QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
The term (elective abortion) indicates that it is not medically necessary and so being done out of convenience or as a form of birth control. I do not believe that this should ever be considered an acceptable reason to end the life of a preborn child. When Roe V Wade was first passed, the selling point to the public was that it would be "safe, legal and rare". There are reports and studies to show long term reproductive health issues after an abortion and one could not call this practice rare.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
Chemical abortion drugs are dangerous and have been known to cause severe reproductive health issues and should be regulated. Full disclosures of all possible side effects, including all potential long term side effects, along with a full description of the effects of its intended use should be disclosed in depth to every person.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I believe that individuals should not be forced to pay taxes that will be spent on practices that goes against their religious beliefs. The majority of all Christians, Muslims, Jews and other world faiths and religions hold fast to the sanctity of life and value the protection of innocent lives.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
This is not a topic I have spent enough time researching and thinking about to make a fully educated stance on at this time but I do know that I do not think that the choice of assisted suicide should ever be placed in the hands of the government, the state or any other hands outside of the immediate family. The government is intended to protect life but also liberty.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
I firmly believe that the religious liberties of churches should only ever be infringed if there is evidence of crimes being committed by its leadership or membership and or individual rights of its membership are being violated, as in the church is abusing or extorting its members just as a few examples.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Individuals should never be compelled by force or under duress to perform any function that goes against their moral or religious beliefs.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The best interest, safety and economic security of the people of the United States over foreign entities should always be the principal concern in relation to any other country that poses a threat to the people, property, consumer markets and financial institutions of this nation.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Our relationship with all of our partnering nations are very important but our relationship with Israel is a special one because of our commitment to its safety and right to exist while surrounded by hostile nations.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
I do believe that as a society we have a duty to take care of the most vulnerable among us including those who rely on Medicare and Medicaid. I do believe that if private healthcare options were made available in an open market manor with less government restrictions, then they would be forced to compete for customers resulting in lower prices and higher quality products. This would make other taxpayer funded programs no longer necessary.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Our government was designed to protect the rights of the individual. No person should be forced by government, school or employer into a personal medical decision that should remain between a person and their doctor except drug testing & physicals.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Not only do I agree, but this is also the most important part of the American dream that so many people from all over the world sacrifice in order to reestablish their families here for a better life.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
MW is a double-edged sword. On one hand a livable wage is needed in order to house and feed yourself & any children. But as the MW goes up then so does the cost of living. Each states economy is different, so MW should be a local issue, not federal.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
I firmly believe that public monies belong to the public as it derives from the public's taxes. As such, elected officials have a fiduciary responsibility to invest those monies back into the communities based on the needs of the community prioritizing safety and education.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
It is the governments job to secure our nation and its people. We are currently being flooded with extremely addictive and dangerous drugs that kill increasing numbers of our youth and tear families apart. Because of our porous border there are untold numbers of men, woman and children that are being trafficked for many horrible reasons like sex trafficking and modern day slavery through forced labor. This humanitarian crisis of abuse and atrocity will continue until the border is made secure.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
Just like with the open market, when schools are forced to compete for funding, they will be forced to provide a better service and increase the quality of the education provided.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Strongly Disagree
One of the fastest growing issues in our communities is crime and the more we pull away funding from public safety the more crime will grow. We must maintain safety and security in our communities in order to provide a safe environment for our children and neighbors to live, work and play. this is a fundamental part of keeping a community healthy and free of oppressive crime. We need to protect our vulnerable population from abuse and violence so defunding the police is not a wise policy.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I do believe that the more you restrict gun ownership of law-abiding people the more you leave them vulnerable to being victimized by criminals who don't care about the law. People have a fundamental right to have the ability to protect themselves from crime, violence or forced oppression.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
I do say yes but I also think that only select teachers or staff that can pass special screening and training should be allowed to carry a weapon in school. I also think that this would be a great use for retired police and or military vets that can pass focused screening to ensure ideal mental and physical conditions for protecting our children. Our children are our most valuable resource and should be more guarded than our money or government.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No.
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of government is spelled out in our Declaration of Independance. Governments are instituted among men to secure our unalienable rights endowed by our creator. As an elected official you take an oath to the US Constitution. It is the governments' purpose to serve the best interest of the people, provide general safety, secure borders to prevent invasion and allow for a stable economy for people to thrive in. Government is supposed to be for, by and of the people.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I am very conservative and traditional while not being old fashioned or set in my ways and unable or willing to look at issues from a fresh perspective. I have an analytical and logical approach and try to always take all considerations into account. I enjoy problem solving and finding amicable solutions. Above all else, I love my neighbors and the people that make up my community. We are hard working, proud and diverse. We deserve more from our elected leaders.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Sexual related topics and or activities and books including sexual identity is not something that anyone except parents should be addressing with their children when that time is right for them. Children are very impressionable and vulnerable and should be protected from abuse through sexualization and sexual related content until they have reached an age of maturity and consent.
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
As long as parents are financially and legally responsible for their children until the consenting adult age of 18 then they also have the responsibility of making as many choices for their children as they choose to.
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Individuals should not be forced to pay taxes that will be spent on procedures that go against their religious or moral beliefs.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
I do agree that Marriage is between a man and a woman of consenting age. However, i do believe that we should not prevent people from civil unions or other legal bindings of same sex couples.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I do consider myself a non-denominational, traditional Christian. I believe that as a Christian I am called to love my neighbor and to me that means that we should look out for one another. I would like to see our communities have the ability to come together and take care of each other keeping the most vulnerable among us protected. As an elected senator I would have a responsibility to advocate for our children, working families and elderly neighbors. I will have the ability to write, introduce and support good legislation that will benefit the people of my community while also opposing bad legislation that would hurt members of our community either directly or through un-intended consequences.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I know that every US citizen is capable of obtaining a driver's license, regular ID, travel ID or Government issued ID of some kind. We do need to safeguard our election system as the most basic and sacred civic duties of the people. This is a non-partizan issue that I believe the majority of Americans can agree, should be among the minimum measures that we can afford to keep elections secure and fair for all.
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
The electoral college may seem strange to those who don't understand how it works but it was put in place for a reason. The name (National popular vote) is deceptive and dishonest because it would allow a few of the most populated cities in the country to decide the president for the rest of the entire nation.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I will not disagree that racism exists. As a mixed culture member of the Navajo Nation I have seen racism first hand. However, I do not feel racism is as prevalent as some would have us believe. I feel that actual racism is becoming rare and should be ridiculed and mocked as the irrational and ridiculous spectacle it is. I do think that when everything is called racist then the actual overt racism gets overlooked as the label is over used and watered down.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
I will agree that there are a few institutions that have been historically and fundamentally racist. The Democrat Party as an institution has been perhaps the worst and not just racist but also oppressive. It was the foundational documents of this nation that helped the Republican Party to free the slaves. "all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with unalienable rights". If an institution treats people unequal based on their levels of melanin, then there is institutional racism.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
As a responsible society we must acknowledge natural biological differences that equate to physical advantages. Biological males competing in combat sports with biological females puts woman in actual danger of physical harm beyond what is expected with other biological females. Biological men competing in women's sports are breaking records left and right. This in my opinion is undermining everything the original womans rights movement fought for.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
Strick regulations that are well meaning but improperly focused do have adverse effects on the job market and local and national economies. However, I do believe that there is a smarter way to place safe regulations on industries that pollute the environment that will be more impactful while not creating a harmful effect on jobs, the economy or our energy independence as a nation.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
I do believe that with all the major technological advances, nuclear energy is the most safe, reliable and clean. With modern scrubbers, coal is much cleaner then it has ever been. I do feel that alternatives still need major improvements.
