RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Minimally, rape, incest, threat to the mother's life, inviable pregnancy, and under 12 weeks; ultimately, abortion is the decision of the patient and her physician.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Disagree

Providers provide additional much-needed healthcare services especially in underserved and less affluent communities.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Neutral

As a chaplain, I have witnessed end-of-life suffering from incurable medical conditions. Theoretically, I empathize and understand the desire to end extreme pain and suffering. However, the opportunity for abuse and criminal practices against minorities, vulnerable populations, and constitutionally protected classes present major challenges to 'aid in dying' laws.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

It is discriminatory.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Under threat to public health or violation of the law.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

Continue to monitor and require protective measures against domestic and foreign threats.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Neutral

This is a complex issue that requires further analysis, understanding, and diplomacy.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

B

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Under threat to public health with provisions for medically-determined exclusions.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Sales taxes, which disproportionately affect lower income income, should be reduced before considering income tax reductions, which benefit wealthier taxpayers. Federal income taxes should be structured to insure lower income families are less burdened than higher income taxpayers.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Eliminate inequitable corporate tax loopholes and reduce high level tax fraud.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Agree

Agree. However, this funding should only be available to the economically disadvantaged.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Disagree

The U.S. should do more to manage the southern border and adhere to the wording on the Statue of Liberty, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to be free..."

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Again, refer to the wording on the Statue of Liberty.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Agree

I agree, however, a) Not at the expense of public school students, teachers, and staff, and b) With stringent guidelines and oversight to avoid profiteering and fraud. Public School dollars should not be used to pay for private schools for students of wealthy, high income parents.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Disagree

This cannot be a blanket policy. Ultimately, police officers' main role is to protect the community. There are times when human morality, the DUTY TO PROTECT and personal accountability must be considered, weighed, and adjudicated.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

This statement sounds like DEFUNDING police. Additional funds should be allocated and distributed to provide supplemental mental health resources and community programs; more funds and support must also be provided for police officers' personal, family, and mental health needs.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Lower the age to purchase guns, create more detailed background tracks, implement "Red Flag" laws, increase penalties and liability for failure to keep guns away from children residing in gun owners' homes.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Agree

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To protect and serve the people. Governments provide leadership, maintain order; provide public services, national security, economic security, and economic assistance ... to protect, serve, enact, and reflect the will of the people ... striving for the greatest good.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Lean Liberal

Liberal/Leaning Liberal. Government must be committed to building and maintaining healthy, safe, and just communities.

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

FaceBook and YouTube; Clean Election Interviews

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I AM COMMITTED! To create and maintain healthy, safe, and just communities. To protect voter rights; especially, to stop efforts that block ballot access and deny election results. To protect girls' and women's health and reproductive rights. To achieve/recapture equitable, voter-approved K-12 funding and school safety. To stimulate and sustain economic growth, improved infrastructure, and effective water management. To pursue criminal justice reform, gun safety, fair taxation, and living wages. To drastically reduce homelessness, increase affordable housing stock, and feed hungry families and school children. Most importantly, to promote and practice the Golden Rule ... treating others as YOU/I want to be treated.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values were fraudulently and inappropriately "applied' to a deceptive framework of compromised morality. The limited government - which excluded women, violently disenfranchised Native Americans, and brutally enslaved Africans - successfully limited majority participation for decades.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Disagree

Per the Scriptures, marriage is a sacred sacrament. A legal union is a methodology for humans to facilitate same-sex unions. The government does not have authority to alter or invoke the definition; it is embodied in free will of the believer.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Critical race theory (CRT) can be defined as "a cross-disciplinary examination, by social and civil-rights scholars and activists, to explore how laws, social and political movements, and media shape, and are shaped by, social conceptions of race and ethnicity."

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Judeo-Christian: Monotheistic; accepting of "open canon"and Divine Revelation; multi-denominational background.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Agree

All legitimate forms of ID should be honored and accepted.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

I would not change any laws that were in effect for the 2020 elections, which reported the least fraud and the highest voter turn-out in history. I would propose changes to reinstate PEVL, increase ballot access by adding or enhancing all forms of voting - in person voting and/or drop offs locations, USPS drops. I would also propose more stringent standards required to initiate recounts, propose changes for campaign funding; ie. elimination of dark money. Elimination of the electoral college should also be explored.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes. Racism and dislike of "otherness" is a fundamental element of American society used to discriminate, alienate, disenfranchise, and exclude nonwhite Americans. The January 6th Insurrection, and the constant onslaught of mass murders and attacks against minority groups, are powerful indicators. Racial violence has morphed and resurfaced more vehemently and openly than a decade ago.. Racism is not a threat to domestic security; it is an active, relentless attack on domestic security and against the very foundation of Democratic principles and ideals.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Agree

Yes. To Native Americans and African Americans whose property, wealth, and culture have been confiscated, stolen, decimated, and/or destroyed on the basis of race.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

B

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Neutral

This issue needs extensive analysis and review. Fracking and oil/gas recovery are critical societal needs; however, they need to be performed in an environmentally safe manner.
