QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Disagree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Disagree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Disagree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Any Circumstances within the gestation period, though if necessary for the safety of the mother an abortion is needed after it should be performed. A person be it woman or gender nonconforming who is capable of giving birth should have one hundred percent autonomy over deciding if she wants to have an abortion and should be allowed to have one.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Disagree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We must reduce government military spending which is far greater then it needs to be. We must reduce the amount of money spent on police forces across the country. We must end corporate welfare.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Disagree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Disagree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

No

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means not allowing religious beliefs to dictate what legislation gets passed. This means not allowing bills that restrict a person's ability to live peacefully and freely without persecution or unjust burden placed on them because of what a religion may state is just or unjust.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Agree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Healthcare is a human right. I support a Medicare For All plan.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Disagree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Everyone, under any circumstances.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised Catholic and am now agnostic and spiritual. I support everyone's right to practice their faith of choice without persecution. I also believe religion should not have a role in dictating legislation that gets passed and should not be used as a reason to discriminate or enforce laws that discriminate or go against someone else's rights.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Liberal

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I support support passing a hate crime bill to ensure the effective prosecution of hate crimes in Indiana, making it illegal and punishable by law. support women’s right to choose and believe men should not have the ability to control the decisions a woman makes about her body. I stand with the LGBTQ+ community and will support legislation to protect their right to equality. I support passing legislation to limit the powers and restructuring the existing police forces currently in power in our country. I support Black Lives Matter and efforts to end police brutality while holding officers who use excessive force to the full extent of the law. I support a federal ban on assault weapons, high capacity magazines, and bump stocks and I believe we need to expand background checks and I support red flag laws and legislation to ensure we keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and stalkers.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I began my work as an activist following the 2016 presidential election, organizing my first rally, Silence is Violence, following the 2016 presidential election. In September of the 2017, I organized a rally calling for action against Trump's DACA decision and urged representatives to denounce the president's actions. I along with my two siblings and a close friend, established the Latino Democrats of Allen County in May 2018. Since 2016, I have collaborated with social activist groups, as well as political candidates at the state and local level. LDAC worked heavily with a number of political campaigns in Fort Wayne, leading up to the 2018 midterms and 2019 municipal elections canvassing, speaking publicly, hosting meet and greets, and Latinx outreach. I have worked in a variety of fields while attending college and after earning his degrees. His experience ranges from heavy labor in a scrap yard, to retail, custodial, construction, and sales work.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I grew up in a lower income family and have lived in Fort Wayne my entire life. Knocking on doors and talking to people from neighborhoods all cross our city and the outlying counties has shown me people are more similar than we are dissimilar. There are improvements that should be made in District 85, there are struggles people are living with that need to be addressed. We all want the same thing in the end, to live happy lives, in a place where we are valued as community members, and where the community continues to grow in positive ways providing a environment for ourselves as well as future generations to thrive in. I want to work with the people for the people and will do everything in my power in order for people to know their voices are being heard and their voices matter.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

No Answer

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I support a federal ban on assault weapons, high capacity magazines, and bump stocks and I believe we need to expand background checks and I support red flag laws and legislation to ensure we keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and stalkers.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Agree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Agree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Agree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Legislation to restrict the powers of landlords on unjustly evicting tenants, from charging excessive rent and security deposit fees, and further protections to tenants from exploitative landlords. I will work towards passing a hate crime bill to ensure the effective prosecution of hate crimes in Indiana, making it illegal and punishable by law. I will introduce legislation to expunge all convictions for marijuana.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes it is. People of color are disproportionately being killed due to acts of racial violence. This results in generational poverty, increased mental health damage, and a variety of other effects besides being a stain on the name of our country. We must do everything in our power to achieve a racially unified country.
