QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Neutral
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Disagree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Neutral
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am Pro Choice and think this is a decision between a woman and her doctor. The government should not have a say in medical decisions.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Neutral
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would love to eliminate all waste from the budget. I think Indiana needs to focus on the issues that impact ALL Hoosiers: Education, Economic Development, and Healthcare.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Neutral
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Disagree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means that our government and laws are based solely on the US Constitution. If we base our laws on religion that is a Theocracy and that would be exactly what our founders were trying to get away from. Not everyone has a religion or practices the same religion so it would be unfair to base laws on a certain religion. I can disagree with something based on religion, but I do not believe as a lawmaker I should be able to create a law based on religion.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Agree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I believe healthcare is a right not a privilege. Every person in this country should be able to walk in a doctor or hospital and receive care no matter how rich or poor. I am a school teacher who pays $600/month for healthcare that is subpar. $12,000 deductible with horrible coverage. Why? We pay plenty of federal taxes to provide for Medicare for All. Healthcare is something that is for the common good....and something that our taxes should cover. I would much rather cover healthcare for all than some of the wasteful spending that happens at the federal level.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Disagree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Neutral
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I think anyone should be able to immigrate to the U.S. unless they have a criminal history.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Agree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Disagree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am very spiritual. I am Roman Catholic and have been my whole life, but I am able to keep my religious views and my political views separate. I do not believe in imposing my views on others. A Theocracy would be very dangerous and not what our country needs.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Liberal
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Go to www.juliesnider33.com to see my stance on issues facing Indiana's state legislature.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have both a Bachelor and Master degree in education. I have been a public school teacher for over 22 years. Most of those 22 years have been spent teaching government to seniors. I understand our government and the legislative process more than most people. I am very civic minded and have never missed an election. I attend city council meetings and lobby the state legislature often. I have a passion for public service and want very much to serve my constituents at the Statehouse.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I have devoted my whole life to public service in our schools. I am committed to serving the people in my district. I am beholden to them and not to any party or organization. I want what is best for the people of District 33 and that means making sure that the policies passed by our legislature serve the majority.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Neutral
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
No
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I believe in common sense gun laws. I do not believe in taking guns from people but I do believe that we need to prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Agree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Agree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Neutral
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Protecting Public Education 2. Energizing local economies by promoting economic development/rebuilding infrastructure 3. Grow Healthy communities by providing adequate healthcare to rural areas and helping fight the opioid problem in our communities
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes, systematic racism is putting people at risk in our country. If all people are not treated equally in our country then it is a danger to all of our freedoms.
