QUESTIONNAIRE*
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Always - a women's health is their business; the male need to control women is this basis of this issue; the Creator is in charge of judgement.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Neutral
Coloradoans have already spoke on this issue and I believe the people need to have their vote respected.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Neutral
This is an issue that needs to be researched. I believe again that is an issue between the person and their healthcare provider. There are those who feel they can judge other people's needs. I have worked in Palliative Care and Hospice. The fundamentalists need to get themselves off the throne of jundgment.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Tax according to the net amount of money made. Socil Security should not be taxed.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Need to realocate the funds that we have now with better priorites.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
I believe native/resident student in the state of Colorado should have discounted tuition for college per semester they attend and their GPA. Pre-K thru High School need to be free as it is now.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
As long as their are other places to recieve the services, the business owners should have rights to refusal.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
If a church violates the non-profit regulations for supporting a particular political party. The government can't close a church but can withdraw the the non-profit status. I believe strongly in seperation of church and state.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
We need a combination of governemnt funded healthcare and private insurance for health care. You can have what you can pay for. I worked on the American Nurses' Healthcare Reform package in D.C. even before Clinton announced his choice to run for presdient. I work in the "trenches" everyday and see the healthcare needs of our Western Slope rural communities.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
When have another pandemic, yes!
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
I needed to think on this and do some research before I would make a statement.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Neutral
Would lean more to the Jews side of this issue.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Disagree
I have worker for Homeland Security/Border Patrol. Physically securing the border is not the answer. The answer is to get our wits together and set up a decent immigration system. I have had personal experience with asylum seekers and our imigration system.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We need certain people to immigrate to the US. One group is the agricultural workers. Another is certain professionals we need in the workforce. I believe we need to evaluate the needs of our workforce and fill those needs first with immigrants. Then, we must do our share of taking refugees and asylum seekers from war toren countries.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Disagree
I had the privelege of a private prochial grade and high school education. My parents (lower middle class folks) paid dearly for that
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Disagree
No ONE religion is NECESSARY for democracy. This country was founded on the need for religious freedom. I see people pushing this agenda as under-educated on the faith concepts in the world religions. Christ didnit even agree with his Jewish "clergy". Why would we pick ONE religion to be represented in our government?
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
Interesting question. Smacks of homophobia. Homophobia occurs when one lacks self secureness in thier own gender.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Disagree
Marriage is religious in my view. Churchs have the rights to define marriage. Governments are obligated to approe of legal unions. This again reminds me of over zealous right wing fundamentalists.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Agree
We are all racists! The US history documents our racism.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Born and raised a craddle Christian and practice Christianity to this day. Having educated myself on different religions beyond Christianity, I see many whose values and spiritual beliefs parellel Chirstianity. It matters not how you develope your spiritual self, but rather that you do so.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Agree
Our precincts are small enough for workers to know us.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
None at this time in Colorado. I like how we practice our democratic right to vote.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Reverse rascism is.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Neutral
Would need to consider this more before nswering. It strikes me as you are asking for certain people to be ecluded from reparation programs.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
I believe Colorado has done a good job in the regulations we now have. I feel we need to be sure that these regulations are being upheld before making any new lawa/regulations.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Disagree
We will never be without need for fossil fuels but they have been proven to be damaging to our environment along with contributing to climate change. We truly need to invest in other energy sources including wind energy, hydro power, and solar. We need to retrain the folks loosing their jobs in the fossil fuel arenas.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To maintain law and order, to provide a decent quality of life for it's citizens and to function in a responsible way including honoring the vote of the people.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
There is good and bad in every law. There is good and bad in every political party. I truly believe that the fundementalists have tossed out common sense. The radical, mean politics we have at this time is due to greed and lust for power. Career politicians should be gone and never allowed to lobby any govenement agency, employee or elected offcial.
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
See CLUB 20 "debate". If Democratic candidates could get impartial interviews and media coverage, you'd have this "documentation". My Facebook pages tell my story.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
You didn't ask our prioirties. It appears that you will pick up insinuations from your own questions and our answers. My priorites should be clear - funding of additinal energy resources, healthcare access, education funding especially technical institutions, evaluating our workforce needs and reallocating funding to meet those needs, defueling our forests, more education the first responders, water conservation mandates for all sectors of the population, getting and keeping food sources preserved on the Western Slope, solve the I-70 closure pronblems, and support for the culture of west Colorado especially it's agricultural industry.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
We need to ADD to mental health funding.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
NO assualt weapons for anyone 21 or younger. Punishment for making assault weapons availabel for this population.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Neutral
I am still out on that - sorta disagree.
