RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
I most certainly believe that rape, incest, and the health of the mother are always at the forefront of what is acceptable. Beyond that, I am glad that Amendment 4 is on the ballot this election. The people have the right to decide. This is an issue that will be embedded in our Constitution. However, my concern is that the general population does not understand the implications of this poorly written amendment.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Disagree
I prefer hospice care to euthanasia. Both hospice care and euthanasia prioritize relieving pain and suffering, ensuring patients experience as little discomfort as possible. End-of-Life Support: Each approach is involved when a person is nearing the end of life, typically in cases of incurable illness. Both approaches emphasize respecting the autonomy and wishes of the patient, allowing them to make decisions about their care or the end of their life.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Free enterprise and private property are cornerstones of capitalist economies, where markets are driven by supply and demand. The ability to buy, sell, and trade property freely is essential for functioning markets and economic transactions.Free enterprise and private property are vital because they drive innovation, support individual freedom, and promote efficient use of resources, all of which are crucial for economic development and stability.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Even with a higher minimum wage, if the cost of housing, healthcare, and basic goods continues to rise, people may still struggle financially. Addressing the availability of affordable housing and controlling inflation can improve living standards.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
Public investments typically have fiduciary responsibilities to maximize returns for taxpayers or beneficiaries (such as pensions). ESG-focused investments could prioritize non-financial outcomes over public funds' financial health, potentially limiting growth and reducing funds available for social services, education, or other critical government functions.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
In the United States and many other democratic countries, the right to religious freedom is enshrined in the constitution or similar foundational laws. However, there are circumstances under which the government can restrict religious gatherings, including the closing of churches, as long as it meets certain legal standards. These circumstances generally fall under public health and safety, emergency situations, or regulatory compliance.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Disagree
In a free market, consumers have choices about where to obtain goods and services. If a business refuses service due to religious or moral objections, consumers can typically find alternative providers. Mandating service, critics argue, is unnecessary and imposes on the freedom of both businesses and consumers.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
Medicaid and Medicare should definitely remain available. limiting taxpayer-funded programs reflects a desire for a leaner government and greater personal responsibility, it overlooks the broader needs of vulnerable populations and the role of government in providing stability and opportunity. In a complex society with a diverse population, other taxpayer-funded programs, such as education, housing assistance, and unemployment benefits, may be necessary to ensure economic security.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I genuinely believe in the measles, mumps, rubella, polio, and tetanus vaccinations. I believe them to be tried and true. Aside from that, I feel that other vaccinations should be a choice, not a mandate.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
The relationship between the United States and Israel is considered important for a variety of strategic, political, and historical reasons. This alliance has been a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East for decades. Israel is a significant contributor to U.S. intelligence, especially in counterterrorism efforts. The two countries collaborate closely on military and intelligence initiatives, helping to counter terrorism and managing security threats, therefore protecting the US.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
One of the main concerns about an unsecured border is the potential entry of individuals involved in criminal activities, such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, or terrorism. Enhanced physical security, including more robust barriers and surveillance systems, is seen as a way to prevent dangerous individuals from entering the country. Additionally, stronger border security aimed at disrupting organized drug cartels and preventing entry will save the lives of countless Americans.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.
Strongly Agree
Allowing funds to follow the child gives parents more control over their child’s education. Families can choose schools that best fit their child’s unique needs, learning styles, and values, rather than being limited to the nearest public school. Introducing choice can stimulate competition among schools to improve their offerings and performance. With funding tied to student enrollment, schools are incentivized to perform well to attract and maintain their student base.
VALUES
Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.
Strongly Agree
Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.
Strongly Agree
Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Neutral
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian and believe in one God who exists as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I recognize that everyone's understanding and relationship with God can grow and deepen over time. Different experiences and life stages shape our faith, and it's understood that each person is on a unique journey toward understanding and experiencing God’s love. Christians are encouraged to show grace to others as they progress on their faith journeys, understanding that spiritual growth is a process. Christianity teaches that all humans sin, but through Jesus’ sacrifice, redemption is possible. As the Bible encourages believers, I avoid judgment of others' spiritual development (Matthew 7:1-5), emphasizing love and acceptance.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Election integrity is essential to a functioning democracy, and ensuring that every vote is cast legitimately helps maintain public confidence in the electoral system. A photo ID requirement can reinforce the idea that voting is a serious and secure process.
States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College was designed to prevent large, populous states from dominating the electoral process. Without it, states with smaller populations may feel that their interests are overlooked, as candidates might focus more on densely populated urban areas to win the national popular vote.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program consistently shows that racially motivated hate crimes are a significant issue. The number of reported hate crimes in the U.S. has increased in recent years, with many of them targeting African Americans, Jews, Asian Americans, and immigrants. Hate crimes and racial violence not only harm individuals but also create fear and tension within entire communities, leading to social instability. These crimes often result in heightened risks.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
While racism has been a part of U.S. history, it is not inherent to the nation’s founding principles or identity. The founding documents of the U.S., such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, emphasize individual rights, liberty, and equality under the law. Even though the country has had to overcome significant racial injustices, these principles have provided the foundation for progress. Emphasizing a fundamentally racist narrative erases our achievements and reforms.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.
Stricter environmental regulations can raise the costs of energy production, particularly for industries reliant on fossil fuels, which can lead to higher energy prices for consumers and businesses. This can also impact economic competitiveness, particularly in energy-intensive industries. To maintain energy independence and affordability, a mix of energy source - fossil fuels with cleaner technologies, renewable energy, and nuclear energy—can help stabilize prices and balance financial burden.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Like any state, Florida must adopt a multi-faceted approach to energy production and consumption for various reasons. A diverse energy portfolio helps reduce the risk of supply disruptions that could arise from reliance on a single source energy.
ABOUT YOU
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
NO
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
NO
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
Governments exist to establish laws, protect the rights and freedoms of individuals, provide public goods and services, and create the framework within which a society can function effectively.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.
Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I generally oppose sweeping gun control measures that infringe on individual rights, yet recognize the need for reasonable regulations to prevent firearms from falling into the hands of dangerous individuals or criminals. The focus is on balancing public safety with protecting constitutional rights.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
The state has implemented policies that permit certain trained school staff, including teachers, to carry firearms under specific conditions. Florida's "Guardian Program" was established as part of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, passed in 2018 following the Parkland school shooting. The program allows school districts to voluntarily participate in training and arming certain school personnel, including teachers, to respond to active shooter situations.
