OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE*

*Additional information was received after the evaluation was assigned and was not considered in the Panel Evaluations, therefore it is for additional educational purposes only.
RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Under NO circumstances should abortion be allowed.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Limiting my comments to state government, fraud, waste and abuse in the health care system needs to be addressed. Waste in state government spending should also be examined.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The original intent of "separation of church and state" was that no church could ever take over the government. A secular state was created, and it was defined that a political distance should exist between church and state.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Health care is a privilege, not a right. Many components in the health care system have combined to create the health care crisis that exists today. U.S. healthcare needs to be overhauled. Fraud, waste, and abuse need to be rooted out and stopped. Medicare for all (government-sponsored socialist medicine) is not the answer. We do have a moral obligation to care for those unable to care for themselves. This starts with protecting the unborn. Until abortion is ended, American society will never appreciate the value or the necessity of caring for the poor without being paid for it. The health care crisis in the U.S. is real and it is massive. Opposing government-sponsored healthcare and abortion, followed by restoring adequate support to (largely) faith-based health systems (FBHS) in caring for the poor would be a constructive start. This is support without strings that force FBHS to provide immoral healthcare to people they serve. Cooperate with the goodness in every human heart.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

First, immigration laws need to be addressed so it doesn't take years to become a U.S. citizen. Anyone who is willing to come into the United States and accept the role of citizen, pass a background check, obey government, become gainfully employed, pay taxes and become a positive contributor to society should be allowed the opportunity to become a citizen of the United States of America.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Roman Catholic who believes unabashedly in the sanctity of human life from conception through natural death. My role here on earth is to know, love and serve God through my faith, my life's work, and my respect and care for my fellow human beings. I support the Constitution of the United States and am proud to be a citizen of this great country.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am a registered Republican.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

1. My ProLife values and my 38 years of ranching and raising a family with my husband. 2. My entire adult life's work in production agriculture; I understand it and have lived through success and failure. 3. My other life experiences including 22 years of hospice involvement, donating Border Collie puppies to Canine Assistance Education & Rehabilitation Services (CARES in Concordia, KS), volunteering as a baby cuddler at Stormont Vail NIC, Topeka, KS. Charitable work benefits the giver as much or more than the recipient. 4. Serving on various livestock boards, as well as many other community involvements including church and 4-H activities. 5. My continual involvement with the Department of Animal Sciences & Industry at Kansas State University, where I earned a degree in 1981.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Everything that has happened in my life has led me to this moment. I have no desire to be a politician, but rather a representative of the people in House District 106 in Kansas. In my mind, public service revolves around truth, justice, being approachable and listening, and prudence. We need courage, open and civil dialogue, especially in today's polarizing environment. I am a listener and a communicator. I am passionate about the value of rural life in today's culture. It teaches responsibility, honesty, integrity, work ethic and a fundamental relationship between this world and our Creator. I offer my ProLife values and my lifetime of experience in agriculture in service to district constituents, to bring about positive change for rural Kansas. Thank you.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

A fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed to all law-abiding citizens, regardless of where they live in the United States, by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. Current Kansas firearm laws should be improved to benefit law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

If elected, as a first-time legislator, the list below reflects what I will work to support: 1. My top priority would be working for the passage of the "Value Them Both" Amendment to the Kansas Constitution. Passage of this amendment delivers means of establishing safeguards in the abortion industry by allowing the people of Kansas to regulate abortion through their elected officials. 2.Addressing the Broadband issue in rural Kansas. Many areas are sorely lacking in broadband capabilities, and with today's technologies the answer to getting consistently accessible broadband for the state of Kansas needs to be recognized and implemented. 3. I will collaborate with fellow rural and urban legislators to find common ground in curbing excessive state spending, cutting waste and working toward achieving property tax relief.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No. Organizations using racism as a smokescreen for activities that promote social unrest and anarchy are the problem.
