OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

There are only a few reasonable exceptions... (1) to protect the mother's health, though I don't know how often that is; (2) in case of rape, which can be a traumatic event and perhaps too much to live with...though circumstances of rape could widely vary (not an easy answer for the mother); (3) some have suggested due to incest (that needs to be carefully studied before any decisions made). The intent is to protect every new baby and give that baby a chance to live, if possible. Our founding fathers wrote it well, stating in Our Declaration of Independence: we are endowed by our Creator "with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness..." So, we must tread very carefully when thinking about limiting life and should instead preserve it. End.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Yes! I believe that we must find ways to keep funding it, since so many seniors and soon to be seniors are depending on it. End.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

This is a subjective thing. However, I hope that bi-partisan legislation can weed out wasteful or unnecessary spending. One example is if we all can't agree on spending to support Planned Parenthood, then those funds should be seriously considered eliminating. End.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

Only in very unusual circumstances. Instead, students should seek scholarships wherever they can find them. I hope individual citizens could help some of these students. I do understand that the cost of attending college is really high. End.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

I think that "separation of church and state" can be misused or misinterpreted. I think where there is positive influence, the church and state can work together, without problems. The First Amendment guarantees the free exercise of religion. Also, our founding fathers who wrote our Constitution used their biblical knowledge as a back drop in creating the Constitution. Currently, we seem to have more of the state trying to interfere with religious freedom than religious freedom interfering with the state. End.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Seems like people have been talking about this forever. Obama Care has been criticized by many people. Not having all the answers at this moment, I will be seeking innovative ideas and better solutions that could move our nation forward. End.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Since radical Islam terrorism can potentially be a danger to peace and stability in the USA, we need to continue to be vigilant and support our efforts to guard our nation. There are "hot spots" in the world where activity could be brewing. Appropriate actions should be taken, in coordination with our allies around the world. End.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Neutral

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

There are a number of people who could be a vital and contributing part of the USA. However, there are a limited amount of people who we can take in. End.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I fully support conservative Biblical views. I will and must translate those views and values in a God honoring way. End.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I was the Wing (head) Chaplain with the 154th Wing in Honolulu, Hawaii from 1997 -2011 and wrote numerous articles in their newsletter, "Kukailimoku". Also, during this time in 2007, I was the Wing Chaplain at the 15th Air Base Wing. Both Wings were on HIckam Air Force Base. In addition, I was a chaplain on active duty at McConnell Air Force Base from 1994-1997. Anyone is welcome to look at articles I wrote. End.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

NO!

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

It is extremely important for Hawaii to have a Republican in the US House of Representatives. Currently only Democrats represent Hawaii and Hawaii can't relate with the Republicans in Congress, for Hawaii's benefit. Let me be that Republican from Hawaii. I can advocate for Hawaii. I believe that I am the most qualified to be that person. Please support me! End.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Obviously, if someone is a danger to him or herself or others, then that would be an exception. Everyone, otherwise, should be able to protect themselves. End.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Since Hawaii and our nation are in a (1) health crisis and (2) economic crisis, we need to sponsor or co sponsor any legislation that would help our nation out of both of these crises. There are other potential areas, but the 2 above seem to standout and require lots of attention. End.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

If people protest peacefully, then it is okay. If people protest violently and destructively, then that needs to stop. We need to have law and order, so that people can live in peace and stability. End.
