QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Every innocent human life is sacred. Every human being, born or unborn, has an inalienable right to life which cannot be infringed.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

To ensure the efficacy of government, we must first evaluate each government program through zero-based budgeting before any consideration of tax increases. This process would involve auditing each program individually first to determine the necessity of the program, and then the approximate funding level required to run each program effectively instead of the current process of basing the budget on previous years.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Per the U.S. Constitution: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." In no way should this clause prohibit Americans, as individuals or communities, from practicing or expressing their religious beliefs, in private OR public settings.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

True health care reform gives individuals control over their health care and health insurance decisions. Regulators and legislators should promote an environment that fosters competition and choice in both insurance and providers, including primary care physicians, telemedicine, and free clinics. Kansas should support enlarging health savings accounts to allow premiums to be paid from them and decoupling them from a particular insurance policy. This will equalize the tax treatment of individual and group plans, promote personal ownership of health insurance, and empower citizens in making health care choices for themselves and their families. Imperative to lowering the cost of health care is the implementation of meaningful tort reform for medical malpractice.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Legal immigration is a blessing to this country, and with the promises of America, a blessing to all. Preserving that promise for future generations requires that we protect the sovereignty of our country and secure our borders. Illegal immigration is not compatible with this goal. Immigration and citizenship with all of its privileges, executed pursuant to the law, are an essential component of that promise. It is, therefore, the duty of all who seek the promise of America to respect the laws of our land.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I was saved by His Grace and am commanded to love my neighbors as myself.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have a lifetime of service. I enlisted as a private in the Army in 1989 and retired as a colonel in July of last year. I served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. Since leaving the Army, I have continued to serve through my church and service organizations here in Leavenworth. I have spent a lifetime defending our liberty and our Constitution, including our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms and the right to life, for the born and unborn. I will continue to tirelessly defend those rights in the Kansas State House. I am also a business owner. My wife and I own Baan Thai Restaurant, Inc. and have grown it into the largest Thai restaurant chain in Kansas, with locations in Leavenworth, Manhattan, and Lawrence. Politicians talk about creating jobs, but I have actually done it! In the State House, I will bring accountability to our property tax system and end the incessant tax hikes and runaway spending that are poisoning the business climate here in Kansas

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

If I have the honor to represent the people of Leavenworth and Fort Leavenworth in the Kansas State House, I will fight every day to put Leavenworth back to work. My top priority is bringing jobs and opportunity back to Leavenworth.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The Constitution of the United States is crystal clear on this point: the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

The Value them Both Amendment Legislation to bring accountability back to our property tax system Legislation to bring accountability to our education spending to get education dollars back in the classroom

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

The violent riots and attacks on our values and our history that this country is currently suffering are the greatest domestic security threat to the United States since ISIS.
