OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the mother.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Start with the Legislature's budget -- reduce their postage allowance (there's plenty of electronic ways to communicate with constituents), reduce/eliminate legislator's memberships and travel allotment in legislative organizations. Stop tax dollars going to PBS and the Arts. Stop subsidizing university athletics -- if a program can't fund itself, it is not needed. Reduce the number of gov. workers. Some work hard and do a great job, but some agencies have too many employees.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

First of all, there is no such wording in our Constitution. That is a phrase invented by liberals to try to keep American Christians from being involved in our political process. I tell anyone who will listen. The church better be involved in the government or the government will be involved in the church. Government should stay out of the church and let the attendees of that church worship in the manner they see best.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

1) Transparency in the price of goods and services to be rendered by medical providers. These need to be easy for consumers to find and understand. Example: A couple years ago I needed an ankle MRI. I called several providers within an hour's drive of my home. It was difficult to get some providers to tell me (some would not), but I was given prices from $1,700 to $400. I chose the $400 -- saving myself well over $1,200. 2) Reducing government mandate of services covered by health insurance policies would reduce the premium rates of those policies. Let each consumer choose/decide what services they wanted covered. 3)Passing legislation such as 2019's HB2209, commonly called the "Farm Bureau" bill provides consumers with additional options to their healthcare coverage. 4) Finally, making certain there are not additional government restrictions on Healthcare Sharing Ministries (a biblical based way to share heath care costs) -- such as Medi-share, Samaritan Ministries, etc.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Any person willing to come to the US, learn our culture, speak our official language (English), become a legal citizen and get a job would be welcomed here. However, if a person is unwilling to meet the simple requirements mentioned above, they should stay in their country of origin. We do not need more persons living in the USA who are willing to ignore/break the laws of our land.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

If the Bible says do it, we should do it. If the Bible says don't do it, we should not do it. Forgiveness of our sin through the blood of Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My Facebook page: Virgil Peck for State Senate Website: virgil4senate.com On both of the above I post comments and videos of my beliefs. My voting record as a member of the Kansas House. kslegislature.org

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have 12 years experience in the Kansas House and was counted on by many legislators to help them understand the state budget and budget process (I'm good with numbers). Although education is important and I encourage each person to obtain the education level they deem necessary to make certain they succeed in life, some of the best legislators I served with had the least amount of formal education -- while some of those who just never understood most legislation (especially the budget) were the highest educated.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I will represent the District with openness, honesty and integrity. Unlike my opponent, I will not sleep (literally) through votes, but will be a bold, decisive and energetic legislator as I work to make Kansas a better place to raise a family and do business.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None

Candidate received an A rating from the NRA Political Victory Fund KS in 2020. https://www.nrapvf.org/grades/kansas/

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Implement term limits for Kansas legislators. Allow taxpayers in Kansas to vote on tax increases. Provide a sales tax exemption for disabled military veterans.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Not really. I'm white and I know and work with many blacks and Latinos. They are good people and we don't notice skin color in our daily lives. God created each person special and asks us to love one another. However, too many of the radical left will use any issue as a method of stirring up strife and hatred.
