QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe that abortion should only be an option if: 1) The pregnancy poses an immediate serious risk to the mother's health 2) The pregnancy is the result of a crime such as crimes like rape, incest, or abuse 3) Laboratory tests conclude that the child of the pregnancy would have an unacceptable quality of life such as cases where the child would have serious physical handicaps or genetic problems.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Neutral
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Money collected through Social Security Taxes should be placed in a trust and allowed to collect interest. Current the Social Security fund is basically being funded paycheck to paycheck. Our government spending is out of control and it needs to stop. Social Security money should be used only for that purpose and not unilaterally used for whatever purpose decision makers decide.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Its hard at this point to say as I am not familiar with what is currently being spent in the Federal Budget. But that being said, I believe that there are many ways that things can be trimmed.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
Current legislation I believe is sufficient for student loans. Public service, teaching, or non-profit work, under current legislation, provides certain individuals with the opportunity to apply for a loan forgiveness. I do believe that a few more classes of individuals should be added to that list. This includes those with extended financial hardships due to lack of jobs or retirement.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state basically requires that government must maintain a neutral attitude toward religion. The First Amendment makes it fairly clear that the government may not interfere with a citizen practicing an officially recognized religion but it also prohibits the government from not favoring one over another, or regulating one more than another.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Neutral
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Obamacare did, for the first time, what no other medical reform bill has done, it gave free or discounted medical insurance to those lacking it. But it did so at the expense of a higher cost for the rest of the already insured. I would like to explore options for both to co-exist: low cost or no cost insurance for all Americans. And affordable insurance for everyone else. Who else can relate: When my medical plan was renewed after Obamacare was enacted, my premiums and co-pays increased significantly! My deductible nearly doubled and many necessary prescriptions that my family needed were denied. It was several month of torture. We need to find a way to benefit the lower income without stressing the middle-class.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
We need to continue to push for all branches of the government to follow and abide by the constitutional privileges that we are granted: the rule of law, enumerated powers, inalienable individual rights (including the rights of women), the separation of powers, checks and balances, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, and other elements of our Bill of Rights – all based on respect for the dignity of the individual human person no matter what his or her background or condition? Islamic law, Sharia Law denies the rights of women, prescribes the stoning of adulterers and extreme punishment of homosexuals, permits marriage with adolescent girls, and prescribes wife beating. If we focus on electing individuals who stand for the constitution, we can prevent our legal system succumbing to this awful way of life.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We are a nation of immigrants, we are also a nation of laws. Under no circumstances should our borders be open to anyone that wants to come in. The individuals that we allow in should be well vetted to ensure that they do not have ties or relationships with any terrorist or criminal groups. They should be required to understand and agree to abide by our set of laws. What make illegal immigration such a problem is the length of time that it takes to complete this step. We need to reform our immigration system so that this process can be accomplished quicker, but with the same scrutiny. There are obviously exceptions to this. For example, those with an spouse or employer to sponsor them.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised a Christian and continue to maintain that relationship with God to this Day. I believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. But because we each choose to rebel against God and go our own way, we are alienated from Him and suffer the corruption of our nature because of our sin. God’s solution to humanity’s sin is the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He died a substitutionary death on the cross as payment for our sins. His suffering, death, burial, and resurrection bring hope for all humankind.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Please visit my website at www.bailey4washington.com. All of my positions of Hot Topics are listed on the website as well as a political compass.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am not a politician. I am not part of either party nor am I part of the good ole boys club. I want to see the end of corruption and career politicians in Congress. I saw a statistic recently that 50% of Congress members are millionaires. So that pretty much makes congress and exclusive club for the super rich. And that is not right, Congress is not the appropriate platform for a politician to get rich, it is suppose to be a a self-less job for the American people. But they don't work for the people, they only protect their interest and the special interests that have paid for votes. My campaign is entirely self-funded with a very limited budget. Perhaps I wont get as much attention or publicity as some of these rich, well funded politicians, but at the end of the day my conscience is clear, knowing that I serve the America people and not the special interests or big corporations that have paid for votes. You can be assured that if I am elected, that your voice will be heard.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We need to focus on keeping guns out of the wrong hands. EVERY TIME there is a mass casualty event as the result of a shooting, everyone seems to gravitate towards banning the gun rights of law abiding citizens. Whenever there is a automobile fatality as the result of a drunk driver, no one suggested that we prohibit the automobile. There is a double standard in this country that needs to change. And more times than not, the weapon used during the shooting was obtained illegally.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Agree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1) Require a long reconsideration of the potential environmental disaster threatening Bristol Bay, Alaska Sockeye Salmon Fishery. The proposed project is in a highly seismically active area. Independent scientists have questioned whether some of the constructed protections could withstand the force of a massive earthquake, such as the 9.2 quake that devastated Anchorage in 1964 or the more recently earthquake near Anchorage last year. 2) Thirty-three states and the District of Columbia currently have passed laws broadly legalizing marijuana in some form. But the federal government still does not recognize it as a legal substance. Science and medical professional all agree that there are undisputed medicinal uses that marijuana has of a persons body. But there are still 17 states that don't recognize it and therefore millions of patients that are forced to take potentially dangerous and addicting prescription drugs to combat their symptoms. 3) Term Limits
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I believe that the perception of racism is a threat to security in the United States. I believe that the majority of all the normal, decent Americans in this country don't discriminate. There are definitely still some that don't, and that could be very dangerous, especially if these people are in positions of power. Take for example Minneapolis, this police officer needs to be held accountable for his actions, as any leader that unjustly targets anyone. Diversity can be one of the most powerful tools that we have. We all come from different backgrounds, live different lifestyles, support different political parties, and practice different religions. And we as a country need to remember that our differences make us stronger!
