OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Disagree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Disagree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

No Answer

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

In cases of life or health endangerment. When a woman decides it is necessary - up and until child viability. I support a 24 hour waiting period and counseling.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Any spending that isn't efficient or effective. I would recommend using Shared Services models, or other alternative models of services delivery to increase the benefits while decreasing cost across the whole budget.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Disagree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

No Answer

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Do not rely on religion to create laws for a nation for the people and by the people. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness including practicing religion.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Agree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Supporting Medicare for All!

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Disagree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone who wants to to immigrate should have the opportunity. I believe in setting limits, having an application process, and priority approval for refugees. Our current system doesn't work. We need to be doing a much better job caring for anyone in the United States and valuing life over lines in the sand.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Agree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Neutral

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in a higher power and everyone's right to practice religion, whatever the religion. I value fairness and equality. I think equity is the key to ensuring everyone is able to have their basic needs met in our society. We should value supporting each other so that everyone has the chance to prosper.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Liberal

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My voting record and my volunteer activity represent very liberal views and organizations.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

While I have never held office before, I have a proven track record of taking on a new job and learning how to do it well, faster than most. I did it at the City of Renton, Seattle Public Utilities, Damian John Construction, and most recently at Snohomish County EMS. As a queer candidate with a trans spouse, I would like to see someone like me in office - making sure my perspective, and those of others like me, is heard. I have strong liberal beliefs that I am willing to discuss openly with anyone to gain understanding and come up with solutions.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I care. I'm willing to do the work. I'm here for you!

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

No Answer

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe that Washington needs additional protections like requiring everyone to have a permits / licenses for their weapons. I believe protections like waiting periods, background checks, and limitations should be strengthened. I also believe we need to be looking at different ways to address gun safety to protect public safety - like gun safety classes for schools, and improving mental health resources and access for everyone.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Agree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

No Answer

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Agree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Propose - Alterations to the Emergency Medical Services System to promote equity in services and the best medical care possible Support - Central Insulin Purchasing Program and Similar Programs to reduce medical costs system wide Support - Gun Control bills / measures

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes. Institutionalized racism continues to increase equity issues. It is so pervasive it is difficult for people to identify when it is happening and how to effect change. The lifelong barriers and life threats people of color experience, and especially African American people, compels us to act, to change the systems, to stop doing what we've always done because it's easy.
