Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Abortion is never morally permissible. Even when life is the result of violence, ending innocent life with more violence is not justified. As for preventing maternal death, thankfully we have incredibly advanced medical technology that can save both mom and baby. After my second pregnancy, I was told by my doctor that because of complications during my first traumatic emergency c-section, it was a miracle I carried my second child. We are so thankful to the NICU at Legacy Hospital Salmon Creek who cared for our son after he was born with two holes in his heart and two collapsed lungs. At that time I was warned against having future children, and told that my uterus may rupture causing loss of life to both myself and my child. Upon hearing this, my husband elected to get a vasectomy. We decided that should his vasectomy fail and I get pregnant, though I am considered high-risk, I would carry my baby for as long as possible, trusting God to keep us both. Please see me on LifePac.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Having not seen each and every line item, I can only speak to what I personally know of, and that is the gross overspending of special building projects. We need transparent bidding of government projects. There is absolutely no reason costs should be as high as they are. We need competitive bidding, inviting small business owners to participate in those job bids. Right now, the ceiling is ridiculously high, which is a gross misuse and mismanagement of tax-payer dollars.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
There shall be no government-mandated religion forced upon the People, nor government prevention of worship. The People shall be free to worship, as "religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship" (Thomas Jefferson). The Government shall not force a free People to violate their own moral conscience.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I believe in healthy competition and the full transparency of potential charges. I would also love to see the return of private doctors that provide house-visits and personally know their patients' family and needs. I also believe in preventative healthcare such as proper nutrition and would love to see coverages expanded to include nutrition and alternative, functional medicine. This is true healthcare and not the sick-care I grew up accustomed to.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I fully support legal immigration. The United States shall be a haven and land of opportunity for those who agree to follow the Law of our land. I agree with a merit-based system of application - those whom desire to work and enjoy freedom are welcome to pursue legal immigration. Whereas those who are known terrorists/criminals/seeking only to benefit from tax-payer dollars without contribution shall not be permitted entrance/pathway to citizenship.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
As a woman who loves Jesus and believes in the power of prayer, I am asking you to pray for America. I received a call to missions when I was very young and have since served all over the world. The passion God put in my heart for justice and freedom grew when I experienced firsthand true oppression and poverty beyond anything we can comprehend here in America (and I have seen shocking depravity here in the States). Choosing to see and engage with those in need feeds the fire of freedom and justice. When you come home, you are never the same, and you value the freedoms you have at a whole new level. I recognize that in order to serve and legislate well, I am fully dependent on God and the counsel of the Holy Spirit. As I am willing to lay down my life for the Gospel, I am willing to lay down my life for my country. May God bless America, and may America bless God.

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
As I have not previously served in public office, I would ask that you please check out my website at www.Kelli4StateRep.com. As for social matters, in my blog I speak to ESSB-5395 (Comprehensive Sexual Education, or CSE for short) and why it must be rejected this November. As for economic matters, I can publicly provide proof of fiscal responsibility in that we did not spend a penny on the wood we used to frame my large 4x8 signs. We chose to conserve our natural and financial resources by upcycling completely free and discarded pallets. The signs are beautiful! My husband did a fantastic job! I also learned how to build my campaign website by myself in order to save the campaign more than $400 by not needing to pay a developer fee.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
Professional letter of recommendation by late Supreme Court Justice of the State of Oklahoma, Marian P. Opala can be found on my website at www.Kelli4StateRep.com. I have my MA in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and have served in various professional and managerial positions including Graduate Campus Director for the University of Oklahoma, Navy College Career Counselor, ESL Teacher at Oppama High School, CMCA-certified Account Executive, Key Account Rep, and more. Volunteer experience includes Special Olympics Coach, ETV Camp Food Services Director, Girl Scout Camp Director, foster youth support staff at TRAC Camp Hood River, high-risk youth support staff as a Whitewater Rafting Guide with Reachout Expeditions WA, and serving on various humanitarian projects in the US and abroad. But my best and most favorite accomplishment is being a wife and mom. There is absolutely nothing that can hold a candle to the deep gratitude I have for my family - I am beyond blessed!

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Although I am very much a conservative, I am a true Independent and will not be bought by either Party, lobbyist, or special interest group. I will make decisions based on the Constitution and Bill of Rights themselves, for they are the foundational law of our great nation. I am a researcher and I am a writer. As such, I will write the equivalent of a Justice's opinion, or legal brief, for each and every vote I cast. I believe it is of utmost importance to fully communicate the how and why behind each legal decision. I also value working relationships with those in the Senate and the House. I do seek to bridge the partisan divide that has grown all the more hostile these last six months. Parties must be willing to lay aside agendas in order to serve the People and do so with integrity. It is my hope that new bridges will be built and we will be able to move forward, together.

Yes
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I fully support the Second Amendment. I do not agree with restrictions tying the hands of law-abiding citizens. Violence is a spiritual condition of the heart; those who would seek to destroy life fundamentally do not care about public safety. The restricting of responsible, law-abiding gun owners both prevents and hinders public safety by creating an environment where perpetrated violence may go unanswered.

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. I would be proud to author and/or sponsor legislation in support of recognizing and protecting human life at conception. I signed and gathered signatures for the Heartbeat Initiative. 2. I would be proud to author legislation in support of a public-private Pathways to Ownership Program (POP) partnership providing those in homeless-to-transitional housing who have done the hard work of rehab and counseling, the on-the-job trade skills necessary (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.) to build their own Tiny Home at a designated POP campus under professional training and supervision. Once their Tiny Home is complete, they will assist with the building of three additional Tiny Homes (honing their new skills) with and while mentoring incoming POP residents. Once the POP program is complete, graduates will apply for and be placed in a viable trade job with a partnering company/organization. 3. I would be proud to author and/or sponsor legislation in support of term limits.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a spiritual condition of the heart rooted in the lies of Fear and Hatred - and as such, is not a problem unique to the United States. My husband and I have experienced racism both here in the U.S. and abroad, from glaring, spitting, gossiping, name calling (haolie, whitey, American oppressor, Yank, etc.), jeering, price-fixing, and even the unjust downsizing of a position after whistle-blowing illegal corporate activity. The vast majority of people we have met are not racist, and I am thankful we live in a country where racism is discussed and Truth is pursued. It is one thing to protest peacefully, it is quite another to riot violently. Because we understand that racism is most often taught/perpetuated in the home, it must be addressed and respectfully confronted in an equally personal way. We understand that real change ultimately begins with personal responsibility and accountability. I am hopeful!
