OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
1. Risk of death to the mother.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Every government program would get an immediate 10% cut across the board. Programs that were redundant would be eliminated. Any program overseen by non-elected officials would be subject to efficiency evaluation and audit. Programs and projects budgeted, but running on overruns and missing projected completion dates would be targeted for elimination.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Neutral
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
For me, separation of church and state refers to no state established nor state run religion. Additionally, I believe that a reverence to God generally infers a higher power that aspires great things from mankind and is generally accepted as allowed in the public square.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Agree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I would support legislation establishing government funded health care savings accounts for individuals that were portable and transferable within immediate family units. These accounts would be issued upon birth and the accounts could be passed on to future generations upon death. The account balance should be enough to cover the costs of routine care, and emergency care and surgeries could be covered with supplemental catastrophic insurance plans. Insurance cross state sales restrictions should be abolished in favor of an open insurance market promoting competition and reduced costs to consumers.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The following classes of people should be allowed to immigrate into the United States: 1. Those fleeing oppression and the threat of death by virtue of religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender. 2. Those who, upon entry into the United States, can readily obtain housing and employment based on a prioritized criteria of needed skills in the United States. 3. Those who have fought alongside US Armed Forces as allies and by virtue of their allegiance to the US might face death in their homeland if not welcomed to the United States as immigrants.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian raised in the Roman Catholic tradition. I treat others in the manner with which I wish to be treated.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Dr. Ben Carson Presidential PAC co-chair Pierce County, WA
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have served as a volunteer in Soup kitchens, halfway houses and homeless shelters. I served the City of Union City, CA as a sworn Police Officer defending and protecting citizens, as well as the lawful taking personal freedoms away from citizens. I served our nation honorably both in peace and in war as a leader of young soldiers who were sons, daughters, husbands and wives of proud American families. My formal education provided me with the life skills to communicate effectively, think independently, and work with peers to improve our community. I have been successful as a city committee member and elected official and worked hard to receive the Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities. The sum total of these life experiences have prepared me to be a State Legislator for the 28th Legislative District.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I would like to legislate as I like to live; by treating others the way I wish to be treated. Moderation is the key and give and take should return to "politics". We need to return to a time when citizens could trust, but hold accountable, their elected leaders, public safety officials and educators. I wish to be an agent for this change.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Convicted felons should not own guns. Those declared mentally incompetent should not own guns until such time as their mental competence has been determined by legal and medical authority to be restored.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Removal of the regulations imposing excessive barriers for the creation of business and commerce in WA State. 2. Establishment of elected commissions to oversee tax payer funded programs like transportation, healthcare and education. 3. Improve education and healthcare benefits for our veterans as they transition from military to civilian life.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism exists. Racist acts imposed on citizens must be met with strong federal "hate crime" response. I do not believe that the level of racist acts or racism as a concept presents a current threat to domestic security in the United States.
