QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Taxpayers must not be forced to fund organizations that murder unborn children. Planned Parenthood is the nation's largest abortion provider, killing hundreds of thousands annually. Money is fungible, so all funding subsidizes their abortion business regardless of accounting gimmicks. Abortion ends innocent human life and violates fundamental moral principles. Zero taxpayer dollars should support this industry.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

None. Elective abortion ends an innocent human life and should never be permitted. Life begins at conception, and every unborn child deserves protection regardless of circumstances of conception or inconvenience to the mother. Intentionally killing an unborn child for any elective reason is morally wrong and should be legally prohibited.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Human life begins at conception when unique DNA is formed, and every life has inherent dignity and worth from that moment until natural death. Government's most fundamental duty is protecting innocent life. This includes the unborn, the elderly, and the disabled. No human being should be deemed disposable based on age, ability, or convenience. A society that fails to protect its most vulnerable members abandons its moral foundation and core purpose of justice.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

They still possess unique human DNA and the inherent potential for life. Creating embryos through IVF or other artificial methods doesn't diminish their humanity or worth. Deliberately destroying them is ending human life. If we believe life begins at conception, we must protect all embryos equally, whether conceived naturally or artificially.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

The Comstock Act remains valid federal law prohibiting mailing abortion-inducing drugs and implements. It should be fully enforced to protect unborn life. Chemical abortions now account for over half of all abortions, often without proper medical supervision, creating serious health risks for women.

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

Government wage mandates harm small businesses and reduce jobs. The market should set wages based on local conditions, not Washington bureaucrats. Forced wage hikes help big corporations crush small competitors and price young workers out of jobs.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and private property rights are the foundation of prosperity and individual liberty. When people can own property, keep the fruits of their labor, and engage in voluntary exchange, innovation thrives and living standards rise. Government's role is protecting these rights, not redistributing wealth or picking winners and losers. Economic freedom has lifted billions from poverty. Societies that abandon private property and free markets invariably descend into tyranny and poverty.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

Mandate performance metrics, regular reporting, and frequent audits for all public fund recipients. Conduct rigorous audits of state agencies and hold officials accountable for fraud, waste, abuse, and unethical conduct. Eliminate legislative privilege to ensure transparency and end back-room deals with taxpayer money. Government must operate with the same accountability expected of private citizens.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

That the government has no authority to control or muzzle my faith, not that I must check my biblical convictions at the door when I vote, serve, or speak as a citizen.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Freedom of conscience and religious liberty are fundamental constitutional rights that cannot be subordinated to government-compelled speech or action. Forcing individuals and businesses to violate deeply held moral or religious beliefs is tyranny. No one should be coerced into participating in activities they find morally objectionable. True tolerance means respecting others' convictions, not weaponizing government power to crush dissent and force conformity.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

As a practicing PA, I've seen government healthcare programs expand far beyond serving the most vulnerable, creating bureaucratic overhead and restricting clinical decisions. I don't believe healthcare is a fundamental right; it's a service best delivered through competitive markets with limited government safety-net programs for those truly unable to access care. Daily I witness how CMS regulations increase costs and reduce efficiency without improving care quality.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

Government databases tracking medical conditions represent massive privacy violations and expand state surveillance beyond legitimate purposes. This enables discrimination, misuse of health data, and rationing based on "economic burden" rather than medical necessity. Medical information belongs between patients and providers, not in government systems that reduce human lives to cost-benefit calculations and give bureaucrats power to determine who deserves treatment.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

As a combat veteran and legislator, I recognize the CCP's documented pattern: stealing hundreds of billions in U.S. intellectual property annually, compromising critical infrastructure through cyber attacks, threatening military dominance in the Indo-Pacific, and undermining American economic competitiveness through state-sponsored espionage. The CCP explicitly seeks to displace U.S. global leadership, making them a serious long-term national security threat.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, our relationship with Israel is strategically important based on biblical foundations and shared democratic values in a volatile region. Israel provides critical intelligence, defense technology, and counterterrorism cooperation that directly benefits American security. However, I don't believe we have a responsibility to always intervene militarily in every conflict. Strategic partnership doesn't require automatic military involvement in regional disputes.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

Sanctuary cities undermine federal immigration law, create safe havens for individuals who entered illegally, and prevent cooperation between local law enforcement and federal authorities. This threatens public safety by shielding criminals from deportation, encourages illegal immigration, and places unfair burdens on taxpayers who fund services for those here unlawfully. Cities have no authority to nullify federal immigration enforcement, and doing so disrespects legal immigrants.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Agree

The Department of Education represents federal overreach imposing one-size-fits-all mandates. However, in Washington I'm concerned elimination could embolden OSPI and an even more radical regime controlled by the WEA. I want pure local control with parents and local communities making decisions, not federal bureaucrats OR state-level bureaucracies. Education belongs to parents who know their children best, with local districts accountable to their communities.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

Foreign governments funding American education creates dangerous opportunities for propaganda, ideological manipulation, and influence over curriculum shaping our children's worldview. This undermines educational independence and allows adversaries like China to infiltrate institutions with their values. Education should reflect American interests and local community values, not foreign government agendas seeking to influence the next generation for geopolitical or ideological purposes.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

As a healthcare provider and parent, I've witnessed government overreach into family decisions that belong to parents alone. Parents have primary responsibility and natural authority to make medical and educational choices for their children, not bureaucrats. Government should protect parental rights, not usurp them. Parents know their children's needs, values, and circumstances better than any state agency and must retain final authority over their child's wellbeing.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Subjecting children to irreversible medical procedures they cannot consent to constitutes abuse. Puberty blockers, hormones, and surgeries inflict permanent damage including sterility and developmental harm. Children experiencing gender confusion often have underlying mental health conditions requiring proper treatment, not experimental interventions. Using minors for ideological experimentation violates medical ethics and parental duty to protect children from irreversible harm.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

Marriage was established by God in Genesis as a covenant between one man and one woman, forming the foundation of family and society. This definition predates any government and reflects divine design, not human invention. Civil authorities can recognize marriage but lack authority to redefine what God ordained. Government exists under God's authority, not above it, and cannot alter fundamental institutions established by divine law for human flourishing and procreation.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Neutral

While I support individual freedom and limited government interference in personal choices, gambling expansion brings concerning social costs including addiction, financial ruin for vulnerable individuals, and family destruction. As someone who values personal responsibility, I recognize adults can make their own decisions, but I've also witnessed the devastating consequences gambling addiction creates. The revenue benefits must be weighed against genuine harm to communities and families.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

As the son of a pastor, I was raised in the Christian faith and believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. My faith shapes my worldview on the sanctity of life, marriage, family, and individual dignity. I believe government exists under God's authority, not above it, and that biblical principles provide the moral foundation for a just society. Faith informs my commitment to service, protecting the vulnerable, and defending fundamental freedoms including religious liberty.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Photo ID requirements ensure election integrity and prevent fraud. We require ID for countless activities like buying alcohol, boarding planes, or entering government buildings, yet somehow requiring it to vote is considered burdensome? Every illegal vote cancels out a legal citizen's vote. Voter ID protects the fundamental right of citizens to have their votes counted fairly while preventing non-citizens and fraudulent voters from undermining our elections.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

Reparations based on race punish people who never owned slaves to benefit people who were never enslaved, creating new injustice. No living American owned slaves. Race-based policies violate equal protection and perpetuate division. Individual merit and opportunity, not ancestral grievances, should determine success in America. Here's my recent op-ed on this topic: https://seattlered.com/seattle-red/opinion/wa-constitution-reparations-challenge/4118078

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

Biological males have physical advantages in bone density, muscle mass, and strength that hormone treatment doesn't eliminate. Allowing them in women's sports destroys fair competition and robs female athletes of opportunities. Women's bathrooms, locker rooms, shelters, and prisons exist to provide safety and privacy from biological males. Protecting these spaces recognizes biological reality and safeguards women's rights to safety, privacy, and competitive fairness.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

Climate has always changed throughout Earth's history due to natural cycles and solar activity. While environmental stewardship matters, the climate agenda drives massive government expansion and economic destruction under crisis pretense. Proposed solutions like eliminating fossil fuels would devastate economies while China and India continue unrestricted emissions, making unilateral action futile and economically suicidal.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear energy operates at over 92% capacity providing constant baseload power. Washington's hydroelectric dams run at 50% or less capacity and could provide more clean, reliable electricity if fully utilized.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

I'm a constitutional conservative who believes in limited government, individual liberty, free markets, and traditional values rooted in biblical principles. Government should protect fundamental rights, not expand control over citizens' lives. I support strong national defense, parental rights, personal responsibility, and local control over education. My military service, healthcare experience, and faith inform my commitment to freedom and preserving America's founding principles.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

The criminal justice system should protect public safety, hold offenders accountable, and provide justice for victims. Punishment must be proportional and certain, deterring future crime while incapacitating dangerous criminals. Rehabilitation matters for those willing to reform, but public safety comes first. The system must restore order, enforce consequences, and ensure law-abiding citizens can live without fear, while respecting constitutional rights and due process throughout.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Agree

Protecting children from predators, trafficking, and sexual exploitation online is a legitimate government function fulfilling its core duty to protect the vulnerable. Law enforcement should aggressively prosecute online predators, child pornography distributors, and traffickers. However, primary responsibility remains with parents to monitor children's online activity and establish boundaries.

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

Sharia law is fundamentally incompatible with the U.S. Constitution, individual liberty, and equal rights. It denies women equal status, prescribes cruel punishments, and rejects religious freedom. American law is based on constitutional principles guaranteeing freedom, equality, and due process. No religious legal system should supersede or be incorporated into our constitutional framework. Religious freedom means practicing faith privately, not imposing religious law on society.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The Second Amendment shall not be infringed. It exists to protect citizens from tyranny, not just hunting. Law-abiding citizens should face zero restrictions on firearms, including full autos or any weaponry. If I want to own a tank or F16, that's my constitutional right. Criminals don't follow laws, so restrictions only disarm good people. Government has no legitimate authority to limit what arms free citizens can own for self-defense and preserving liberty.
