OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I consider an ectopic pregnancy to be a medical procedure to save the life of the mother.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
At the state level, there needs to be State Auditor or third-party oversight of each department's expenditures, with reports to the Legislature. Each department and project needs to be reviewed for appropriateness. An example, Fish & Wildlife should have been given the $700,000 they asked for to increase fish hatchery production (there would have been an ROI), but some of their other "projects" are questionable.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Neutral
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Within the construct of the Constitution, citizens are free to practice their religion of choice.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Free choice must remain. WA State has a variety of plans available thru a State website that should meet the needs of all citizens who desire coverage. Providing reduced tuition fees in exchange for a guaranteed number of years working in rural areas of our state. Expanded transparency on the cost of procedures and materials. More support for in-home care for long-term patient care will greatly reduce costs.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anyone should have the opportunity to immigrate to the U.S. There are laws and policies that provide an application process for immigration into the country, as well as citizenship. A person's background may preclude immigration, such as terrorist or criminal activities.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My husband and I are members of Queen of Angels Church in Port Angeles. I believe everyone has a right to practice the religion of their choice. That is the very reason our forefathers came to this land.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My voting record as a Port Commissioner with the Port of Port Angeles, as a Planning Commissioner on the Clallam County Planning Commission, and as a Charter Commissioner on the Clallam County Charter Review Commission.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
Commissioner, Port of Port Angeles 2016-present Member, State Lands Commissioner's Solutions Table 2018-Present Commissioner, Clallam County Planning Commission 2011-2019 Commissioner, Charter Review Commission, 2016 Trustee, Crescent Water Association 2007-2014 Clallam Economic Development Council Ag Representative Coast Guard Auxiliary Worked for private business, in the public and private arenas, and owned three small businesses. Currently own Alpacas of Cedar Wind and is Manager of Crescent Water Association. Associate of Business Arts Degree, Heald Business College, Sacramento, CA. WA certified Water Distribution Manager and Water Treatment Plant Operator.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
It is important to elect persons who have a broad background, who understand the impact of their decisions on the hard-working constituents they represent. Even as the pandemic was exploding, the Governor signed legislation into law raising gas taxes to an unsustainable high. B&O taxes were increased again and sex education at all grade levels was approved, all supported by the current Senator, Kevin Van de Wege. Post the corona crisis, we'll need a Senator who knows how vital it is to rebuild the economy, keep promises made to first responders and fire departments, and continue to improve schools, using fiscal common sense. My experience with the public arena, school districts, small business and natural resources will make a difference for our District in Olympia. I have lived in Clallam County over 25 years and understand the 24th District's unique needs and people. I am ready to be your voice. Please vote: Connie Beauvais for Senate LD24.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
There are plenty of laws; they need to be enforced.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Economic--Reduce B&O tax to help businesses recover from COVID-19 impacts. Let the free market recover on its own. In so doing, State revenue will increase with business revenue Education--Fund vocational training in skilled areas. Allow school vouchers to follow the child. Environment--Properly manage public land forests and increase fish hatchery production. Continue to clean up our waterways.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes. Racism will remain a threat to domestic security as long as people don't respect each other as equal and individuals don't feel respected. It is important that policies concerning equal standing under the law are applied fairly across the board and without regard to race. It is also important to apply compassion in judging others.
