QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
If the life of the mother is in jeopardy.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
I would stop the Intergovernmental debt borrowing from Social Security. I would make sure only those who paid into Social Security receive their payments. The exception being those born with disabilities. I was at a Social Security office a few years ago and a woman walked in suitcase in hand, she had just come off an international flight. She wanted to know if she could pickup her social security check that day. As she was speaking very loudly she was a new immigrant and heard anyone could get social security payments, she was shocked to find she had to work first to receive them.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I believe there is a lot of waste in government spending. I’m a home owner who has to run a household. I refuse to carry a balance on my credit card. If we can’t pay for it, we don’t buy it.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
None, the problem with the United States are the parents who refuse to say no to their children. That includes sending your child to a college that the parent/ child can’t afford. We need to make our children understand that not everyone needs to go to college. This country has a shortage of plumbers, electricians, carpenters, steamfitters, tile mechanics etc. if going to college is a must, go to community college for two years, work while in college. Then transfer to a 4 year school
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state means, the Government doesn’t officially have a religion. To me it doesn’t mean we have to call a Christmas tree, a holiday tree, in order to put a Christmas tree on the town square. Our religions are under attack and I feel in NY the archdiocese gave in too quickly to Coronavirus scare cancelling masses, there could have been something done, mass in the parking lot, in our cars. I miss the church community
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Healthcare is every individual’s responsibility. I don’t feel that government is responsible for a persons healthcare. I believe in a capitalist society competition is important to get the best company at the most competitive rates.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
These United States needs to vet those wanting to come to the United States to make sure they want to become Americans. They must accept our judo Christian ways of life. They must want to be part of our vast multicultural nation. We as Americans are very respectful of each other’s religions, the radical Islamic must learn to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave they must leave their radical ways behind. This is the greatest country in the world, so many people want to emigrate here, they must learn to assimilate.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
When my great grandfather Charles Breslin came from Ireland during the potato famine, he was required to have a sponsor, a job, and a place to live. He wanted to become an American, he didn’t want to change America to Ireland. We should allow people to immigrate that want to be part of America and our judo Christian values should not be a front to them. I believe those who immigrate to these wonderful United States should learn English as soon as possible. Those that immigrate should be able to support themselves and not be a tax payer burden.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God the father, I believe Jesus Christ died for us so we can be saved. I think all people need religion in their lives, it helps our moral barometer.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
When I first was old enough to vote, I registered as a Conservative. I only became a Republican to run for office. The people in my district are mostly people who left NYC to move to the suburbs. All the reasons for leaving the city and moving to the suburbs, they are trying to change our small town to be more like NYC. I believe in peace through strength, I believe in a hand up, not in a hand out. I believe that not everyone needs a college degree, there’s nothing wrong with getting your hands dirty to build, fix or create something. I believe it is an absolute privilege to legally immigrate to these United States. The opportunities this great country offers are only limited by people’s imagination.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
My name is Maureen McArdle Schulman. My husband Billy and I have been married for 39 years. I had two children Eileen and Kerry Ann. Kerry Ann passed away in 2007 of an undiagnosed genetic heart arrhythmia called Long QT Syndrome. Eileen has the same genetic heart issue but has had many pacemaker defibrillators implanted keeping her alive. We have 3 grandchildren and 2/3 have the same medical issue. One thing I can say is burying a child is most heart wrenching thing I have ever done. I am a retired NYC firefighter I worked in East Harlem for 21 years. I loved my job, I was one of the first female firefighters hired by NYC. I was present at the first World Trade Center attack, and was standing in front of as the first tower collapsed on September 11, 2001, as nearly 3000 people were murdered. I have been through hell and back, these things did not destroy me they made me stronger, I’m a fighter and I will continue to fight for what I believe in.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
A safety course by the NRA should be a requirement, I’ve taken several. I believe more restrictive gun laws just take guns away from law abiding citizens. I believe those who want to cause mayhem will do it regardless of gun laws. I believe criminals don’t care about our gun laws. I believe if people are unsure if your carrying a gun, you are safer.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
I would propose a bill making the unborn a federally protected class I would sponsor the Born Alive Protection Act I would author a bill that each state must report live abortion births
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I think the race baiters like Al Sharpton are a threat to domestic security. As one of the first female firefighters in NYC I dealt with a lot of controversy, one oh my friends said to me “ how would they treat a man who did what you did if it’s different it’s a problem” I agree. So if a white person and a black person do the same thing and are treated differently, that is a problem in my eyes. Just like rich vs poor or a regular person and Hilary Clinton its all a problem. We are Americans we are suppose to equal under the law, that is why Justice is blind.
