QUESTIONNAIRE*

*Additional information was received after the evaluation was assigned and was not considered in the Panel Evaluations, therefore it is for additional educational purposes only.
RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only if death of the mother is imminent.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

A gift given by God is not subject to the laws of men. I proudly stood with Commissioner Lahring in removing Planned Parenthood from county property.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Life begins at Conception and ends at Natural Death.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Too numerous to mention. Taxes not at the point of sale only increase final consumer cost so should be removed. Michigan Fuel tax at the pump should not go to public schools but remain strictly for roads and bridges (a 32% "increase" in road funding without changing tax rate). Ad Valorum (property) taxes for public school millages must be available for parents to home school their children at their sole discretion.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

First, identify departments of government that is beyond the scope of state government and reduce that spending completely. Funding for school programs that promote CRT, DEI, sex ed, shall be ended. Removing positions in the growing bureuacratic state (even while Michigan's population has dwindled every census) will further reduce both short term spending and long-term liabilities.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

This is a clear violation of the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution and Article 1 of the Michigan constitution.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

D. As a matter of fact, I am currently assisting setting up an Rx pricing program for a Christian direct care clinic. They sell a subscription of $50 for all regular doctor visits, most basic clinicals are covered, and everything else has a menu of prices. Even X-Rays are free for the $50 subscription. Let doctors be doctors, less government control, and less insurance meddling.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Never. My wife lost her job (it used to be a Christian camp but over time morphed anti-Christian) and they did not allow for her religious exemption my pastor drafted.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

There's not much left. Trump solved most of that problem. Honestly, if Islam would convert to Christianity and learn about Free Market principles their people would be too busy becoming prosperous to want to blow themselves up abroad.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

Palestinian is a made up term. It's Israel's problem and we do not need to make their problem worse. The fact they won the 6-days war was miracle enough - the one nation of Jews left on earth needs its security.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

Use the National Guard. General Pershing was working the southern border against Pacho Villa's raids when he was called to lead the Doughboys in WW1. We've abandoned our military presence at the border now for just over 100 years. Look at the mess that's made.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

First, we only accept immigrants when we have a NEED for immigrants. They must be able to demonstrate that they will not require public assistance, have a job lined up, learn and effectively communicate in English, and not have ties to any known cartel, illegal organization, or foreign influencer. I would prefer NOT allowing those from Islamic countries to come here unless they are Christians escaping islamic persecution such as the Jizya.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

The parent shall have sole discretion over the education and raising up of their children to be good American Men and Women.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

The founders relied heavily on the BIble in the construction of the US Constitution. Exodus 18 itself gave them the idea of how to create Congress. In fact, Israel is the first nation on the earth thousands of years ago (it started with Moses) to have a Republican form of government.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

The only thing I would add gender identity to is that of a mental illness. Which my high school and college psychology textbooks did: it was called "gender identity crisis" back then.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Strongly Agree

Absolutely correct. In fact, the Michigan constitution defines it as such. Unfortunately, an errant SCOTUS ruling decided they could interfere with state's issues and override our constitution. Additionally, I recognize marrisage as Between Man/God/Woman...government should not insert itself into a union that God Himself has ordained.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT is just a socialist redistribution of wealth legal doctrine turn public school indoctriniation. It must be removed.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

As a follower of Christ, I will often make the point at political events that, even though I vote Republican and was the Chairman of our county republican party, I'm actually not: being a Christian, I am actually a Monarchist...spiritually at least! The Bible has every answer we need in every aspect of life. In terms of politics and serving in elected office, I am often asked how a Christian can be there or if it's even proper. I turn them to Matthew where Jesus was questioned (or scoffed at) by his disciples. He was asked why he goes into the houses of sinners. Jesus told them that a Doctor does not go into the homes of the healthy but those of the sick. To me, there is no house more unhealthy or unclean as the houses of government. We as Christians MUST follow the will of God and as the Holy Spirit guides us: the sin of OMISSION is just as bad as the sin of COMMISSION. Legislators clearly need to square their laws with that of the constituion, but more fundamentally, that with the living word of God. Any law that does not is tainted and sure to fail. I often think our political leaders would do well from a corporate reading from Proverbs for a dose of Wisdom.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I can't check out a book at the library without proper identification.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Too many to count. The Michigan election code is horrible. I'll provide just 3: 1) Voter Registration EXPIRES every 6 years. Like so many other licenses, it is incumbent on the voter to actively renew their voter license and prove they are still alive and meet the criteria as a qualified elector. 2) Current Michigan election law states that an election CANNOT be recounted if the accounting of the ballots do not match the tabulator tape (so lose a few ballots or cast too many). This essentially LEGITIMIZES voter fraud. 3) As a County Republican Chairman, Michigan election law says that I can provide the clerk with a list of election inspectors (poll workers). It then reads that the clerk "MAY" use the list provided by the county party chairs. No..."MAY" needs to be amended to the word SHALL. Let the onus of ensuring election integrity be on the campaigns and the political parties. Talk about checks and balances...a good system should be just like the Cold War where both sides knows the other side has disastrous power to tread lightly.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is a lie. God created ONE race. The race of mankind. For non-believers, however, ANY attempt to divide us is a threat to our security, liberty, and prosperity. HOWEVER: racisim is NOT prevalent. What IS prevalent is a small group of people stirring up and fabricating racism. This is nothing more than the destabilizing influence of a thing called Communism.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

If we're going to do this then I want reparations with compound interest on my ancestor losing half a family farm in 1862 because he joined the Union and his parents thought he would never come back. Reparations is another instrument of the left to initiate Redistribution of Wealth and is another tool in the tool kit of Communism.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A) Environmental issues are self-remedying through the free and open market and IF we allow for the old common law system to operate again.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.

Agree

My only caveat is where...would I want to do this under Lake Michigan when there are plenty of other locations? No. But we have plenty of other locations, so let's get drilling!

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

RIghts come from God, not government. Government only exists to secure those Rights.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

Its on my website, all my palm cards, most of the mailers that I send out...this is also true of my campaigns when I was a County Commissioner. My "Brand phrase" is my core belief. I can send a copy of my Faith, Founders, & Freedom session (a sort of Christian/Political "Missionary" role I made for myself). In one class, I describe Obadiah 1:11 and relate it to the 2020 Shutdown. The Edomites, being descendents of Esau, were commanded by God to stand in defense of Jerusalem should it ever come under attack...meaning to perform a function of Interposition. Our government is supposed to do that...to protect us, but they quite often do not. And thus they failed Obadiah 1:11 and my statement above during the Shutdown.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am the ONLY veteran in this race. I would attempt to base legislation on biblical principles and the US Constitution and founding father's personal writings. My number one goal now is to Restore Freedom, Restore the Economy, and Restore Prosperity.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

Unless that policy is proven to be against current existing law or the Constitution. Yes, it does happen in rare cases...but what the left is pushing against our law enforcement is sheer rubbish.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Disagree

Mental health is it's own issue that has cascaded over to law enforcement as a final catch all. Currently mental health is a disaster and police have to handle those cases...thereby robbing us of an officer who should be policing for us. Taking money away from law enforcement budgets to give to mental health...that just does the same thing. Mental health needs an overhaul. In talking with my 3 republican sheriffs in the 102nd Michigan House District, they would like a multicounty mental hospital

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None. I often joke to restrict democrats from owning firearms to see if they would commit less gun related violence though. But no, no restrictions are needed as gun restrictions actually reduces public safety.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

This as illogical and immoral. Sueing the manufacturer would be similar to me wanting to sue the elderly parent of the adult who backed into my car last week.
