QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Abortion is the taking of an innocent human life, and that should be clearly understood by any woman who chooses to have one. Elective abortions are legally allowed in Minnesota up to, and including, the moment of birth. In my personal opinion, elective abortions should ONLY be allowed in the case of minors who have been raped or are the victims of incest or for women who are making that very hard choice before the baby is 20 weeks old. There must be reasonable limits on elective abortion.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

When a woman chooses to have an abortion, she should know that she is ending a life, what the process of chemical abortion does to that human life she is carrying, and that the baby may even survive. That being said, there should be strict (not just essential) safety standards, and always with an in-person consultation with a medical doctor. Strict reporting on reactions and outcomes should always be required.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers should be funded by the private sector, not taxpayers.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Neutral

While I do not support assisted suicide or euthanasia, I understand that difficult choices by a consenting adult sometimes have to be made regarding end-of-life.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise allows people to determine what's best for themselves and their families, including the right to private property, which creates generational wealth. A rising tide lifts all boats, which is best achieved through personal responsibility, and is impossible to achieve through government coercion.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

The true min. wage is $0. One should be able to work for free if they so choose. Wages are the value of one's labor to an employer, freely exchanged between both parties. High min. wage laws hurt the young and unskilled the most, limiting prosperity.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

These ratings pick winners and losers based on arbitrary criteria not rooted in a full understanding of human nature or even science. They stifle individual freedom, curiosity, creativity and innovation, which are necessary for a free and prosperous society. They also artificially inflate (or deflate) the value of a company, putting public monies at greater risk than the free markets, which can be measured in output, growth and shareholder value.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Only if they are violating criminal law.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Punishing people for their strongly held religious beliefs not only violates the First Amendment, it contributes to the erosion of our country's moral foundation, which is necessary for a free and just society. This punishment also denies the success of a free market economy.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C. No other taxpayer-funded programs should be necessary if Medicare and Medicaid are applied appropriately and if taxpayers have more money in their pockets (through lower taxes) to pay for their own private health insurance. More competition through smaller, local providers is what is needed. Government subsidies always drive up costs, not because people are greedy, but because subsidies always inflate what the free market will actually bear.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

None.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Communism is a threat to any free society.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

It is extremely important, not only because they are one of our greatest allies in that region, but also given Israel's history and the freedom and stability it provides for citizens and noncitizens in a region of the world where that is not always true.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

All of nature, including humans, takes the path of least resistance. We are a sovereign nation and have the right to determine and vet who comes into our country lawfully. Without a physically secure southern border, we have allowed death, suffering, human trafficking and an influx of deadly drugs, which are killing millions of U.S. citizens every day. This also puts our national and domestic security at risk. Enforcing our existing illegal immigration laws would also help.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Agree

Parents know the type of education that is best for their child, and it is not right to force them to attend schools that are failing them academically and socially and putting them at physical risk every day. Public, private and homeschools should all be competing to be the best. Public schools currently have no incentive to do that, resulting in dismal academic and emotional outcomes for our children.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Strongly Agree

As long as those decisions are truly in the best interest of the child.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Neutral

A God-ordained, sacred union is not the same as a legal union, and the U.S. government has already altered the above definition that seeks to make these two things one in the same.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that having faith in something bigger than yourself that you are also a part of is fundamental to a healthy society. I believe that God is our Creator and that we are a part of Him. My relationship with Him is personal, and I believe that such a faith provides a moral foundation that is necessary for a free society to prosper and endure.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Voting is a privilege, and one's right to exercise that privilege is based on certain criteria. You should prove that you have a legal right to vote, just as you have to prove you have a legal right to open a bank account, get on an airplane or do any number of other things in society that require a photo ID to do so.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College was deliberately created to ensure that all voices are able to help choose the President in a way that is most fair, given varying population densities across the country.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

This depends on how you define racism and how you define its threat. Our country's obsession with injecting race into every human interaction (and finding slights where there are none) is causing huge problems in the U.S. We must define racism narrowly again, and when we do, we will find that it is far less of a threat to domestic security than is everyday crime in our neighborhoods.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Institutions aren't racist, people are. As we have become less racist as a people, rejecting the Ku Klux Klan by an overwhelming majority for example, more and abundant opportunities have become available, making the promise of America obtainable to more people than at any time in our country's history.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

A and C

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

We shouldn't rely on, or mandate, just one source of energy, but use a combination of what works best for the environment and people, based on location and need. Safe, efficient nuclear power exists and must be pursued as part of that equation.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To provide for the defense of our nation and to create as few laws as possible that prevent physical harm to people, while protecting our individual rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

We all have different definitions of what each of these labels mean. It's most important to me that we be allowed to freely express ourselves without being censored. We all have more in common than we realize without the labels. The free market isn't just for the economy, it's also for ideas. And a free market of ideas will let us know what it will bear — as long as we have the freedom to do so.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

The government provides for the safety of its' citizens through police departments who can deter crime by being visible and trusted in a neighborhood. The community is made up of people, and through a solid foundation of faith, family and education, they themselves can create the community programs that can work in tandem with police departments to keep crime low and everyone safe. A high quality of life and a growing economy are dependent on citizens feeling safe where they live.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The 2nd Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms to law-abiding citizens for protecting themselves, their families and others from harm. We already have restrictions on gun ownership for those who routinely commit crimes with guns or buy/sell them illegally. Enforcing those laws is what protects public safety.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

If they so choose, if they are properly trained and if they always practice gun safety.
