OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

If life begins at conception (as I believe) it logically follows that all life is valuable and deserves protection regardless of the circumstances in which the child is conceived. As a political matter, if Roe v. Wade is overturned I don’t believe that most states will be able to get the support necessary to ban all abortions outright and that legislators would have to allow for exceptions rape, incest, and for the health of the mother. I would support those exceptions.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I will first point out that prior to the COVIV-19 pandemic, Michigan was having surpluses for the state budget. I would, however, seek to cut spending to non-essential infrastructure that does not have a benefit to the broader population in a given area as well as any funding for diversity or awareness programs.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Separation of church and state means that no church institution or denomination can have sole authority in governing any political entity. It does not mean that God is not allowed in the public square or in public life. It does not mean that governments, whether local, state, or federal, cannot provide funds to religious schools or faith-based non-profits.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Neutral

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The keys to reducing the costs of healthcare and improving accessibility are increasing competition in all aspects of healthcare and improving transparency of the costs of healthcare. Allowing consumers to purchase plans across state lines would increase competition and lower rates. Those efforts would probably have to be conducted at the federal level. The State however could work with insurance providers and healthcare facilities to better communicate the costs of treatments and procedures to help consumers shop around and select the most affordable option for them.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I believe that there should be a decrease in legal immigration. The only people that should be allowed to immigrate to the United States are individuals that are being employed by firms and businesses that can demonstrate that job vacancies are not being filled by Americans, despite the firm’s best effort to fill those positions with Americans. I would also allow a limited number of refugees to come, but only those have been through a thorough vetting process.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I have been a Christian all my life. I grew up going to an Assemblies of God church and currently attend a non-denominational church. I believe in the tenants detailed in the Apostle’s Creed. I believe the Bible is the Word of God and is both inerrant and infallible.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My platform and my positions on various issues can be viewed on my website at www.dybaformichigan.com.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and have spent the last seven years working in government. I understand how government administration works and how implement the kinds of reforms that result in smaller, more efficient government that decreases the tax burden on citizens.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I’m not a candidate beholden to special interests or the establishment. If elected, I would represent the desires of ordinary folks

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Neutral

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

A simple background check, if done properly, should suffice in most instances. I believe in the right to bear arms as afforded by the Second Amendment. I simply want to make sure that people with criminal records or individuals with a history of mental illness are not able to purchase weapons when they should not have them.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

My top three legislative priorities are: (1) Improving road funding, which will entail reallocating funds in the budget towards roads along with reviewing and revising PA 51 of 1951, (2) improving broadband internet access and increasing competition among vendors, and (3) any and every piece of legislation that advances social conservative causes.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

While I think racism may causes problems from time to time, I do not believe it is a threat to domestic security. I don’t see any evidence, whether empirical or anecdotal, that suggests racism is a domestic security threat.
