QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
To save the life of the Mother only
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
First I would look at mandatory services that we must provide to our citizens. Then I would look at prioritizing services to our community. What should we provide instead of what we would like to provide. We can only spend the money we have without imposing more taxes on our citizens. Politicians never want to make tough decisions the easy thing to do is let's raise taxes. I think if our political aspirations are more important than taking care of the people we should step aside and let someone
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
We must always follow the U.S. Constitution and all of our citizens must be able to worship where we wish to without the fear or intervention or the treat of reprisals by our government.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
First I would support free market competition across state lines which will bring down costs, Transparency on actual drug costs, expenses on elective surgeries and health related costs.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Immigration is welcomed but only if it's legal period. We as Americans welcome and promote immigration but we must include background checks and restrictions must apply for criminal activity, drugs and violent crimes.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in our Lord Jesus christ as our savior. I believe in strong community involvement helping our fellow citizens, our poor our homeless and less fortunate. I believe in my values of the 10 commandments. Character, integrity, honesty, and fair treatment of our fellow citizens are not just words. They are a solid foundation and a way of life
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I believe in the free market and limited government. I'm a 2nd amendment supporter including all 27 amendments to our Constitution. I'm a strong right to life supporter. I support building the wall and allowing legal immigration into the United States. I support reduced regulations, on small businesses, farmers and medical professionals. I'm against new taxes or millages imposed on our citizens. Government should learn to live within their means, prioritize services. And stop trying to regulate and bog down our free market.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I served my Country right out of high school by joining the Army and serving in Vietnam. I served as a Law enforcement officer for 33 years my last 12 years as the elected Sheriff. I worked in the Corporate world for 10 years for Domino's pizza Tom Monahan stationed in Linthicum Maryland and Scottsdale Az. As a regional Corporate Security Director. While serving as Sheriff we had the largest budget of 17 million and most County employers at 137. I'm a current County Commissioner for District 6. Livingston County has 9 Commissioners overseeing 26 departments and a 94 million dollar budget. Education- I have attended countless schools, and certifications over my career. Some are Leadership- Central Michigan University. Police staff and command (10 months) Eastern Michigan University. FBI NATIONAL ACADEMY 209 Quantico Va, Virgina tech university. Incident Command Alabama, Bomb school university of New Mexico.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
If you live in Livingston County many of our citizens know me very well. I've been outspoken and critical of poor leadership from our board of Commissioner's. I've been transparent on Law enforcement issues, very outspoken on both positive and negative issues which effects public safety for our community. One of the issues that has always bothered me is when a serious felony or serious crime has occurred. Many of our police departments, Sheriffs offices and MSP would have no comment. I believe our community deserves answers at the time of the incident or a lawsuit. My pledge to Livingston County is that I will always be honest with you. You may not always agree with me but if I'm asking for your vote, I work for you and I promise to be accountable to you.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I'm a second amendment supporter. We have so many laws on the books that we currently do not enforce. Putting restrictions on law abiding citizens is not the answer to many of our social issues. We should be talking about accountability and dealing with mental health issues. Talking about more restrictions only serves as a political solution for votes. And it gives a false sense of security to those that oppose our second amendment. I've been in several shootings during my career. More laws
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Public education Affordable and accessible health care with transparency. Veterans heath and services. Taking care of veterans, suicide prevention and education would be a high priority for me.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
In my lifetime I have seen tremendous progress with racism in America. We can and should always strive to make improvements with this issue. No one should be judged by the color of their skin, religion or ethnic history.
