QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

No Answer

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

No Answer

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is sensitive personal issue and the government should neither prohibit, nor subsidize people's personal medical issues. The government does not have jurisdiction over the contents of our bodies.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Make it optional. For those who have been coerced into paying their whole lives, keep the promise. For those who see the atrocious opportunity cost of SS compared to even a modest index fund, allow them to not have wages withheld along with not being eligible for SS benefits. Fund the shortcoming by selling off federal land.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Immediately reduce military spending, ICE, DEA, ATF, welfare fraud, border wall construction, incarceration of people for victimless acts, special interest spending, foreign aid, etc. If a balance cannot be reached there yet, tighten the belts of every government agency across the board by the same percentage until it is reached.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

None. Taxpayers are made up of a diverse group of backgrounds, many of whom never attended college. Under no circumstances should a person who did not attend college be forced to pay for someone who not only did, but knowingly agreed to borrow money to attend.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Disagree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It means that the government has no right to intervene in the activities of places of worship, so long as no one is being harmed in those activities. It also means that no religious belief shall be enforced by government violence upon anyone.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Get government out of the way. FDA roadblocks, barriers to international medicine purchasing, atent abuse, insurance restrictions and mandates, and the absolute destruction of market mechanisms on medical care and supply pricing have created an unsustainable model that few can easily afford. With these issues addressed, healthcare would cost a third of what it does now.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Stop waging forever war around the world and creating terrorism blowback. Every drone bomb we drop creates a new crop of terrorists as our government kills innocent people. We need to stop being the world's police and encourage foreign trade to benefit Americans and the world. People who are making money don't bomb their trade partners.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Disagree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Any peaceful person should be able to move here, so long as they can secure employment and housing without public assistance. American business owners and property owners should be able to hire, house, or host whoever they want, so long as they are not creating a burden on society in the process. Grant newcomers guest-worker passes so they can contribute without having to fear for their lives or families being torn apart by the totalitarian immigration status quo that results in caged children. Checkpoints similar to the Ellis Island model would suffice to weed out dangerous foreign criminals or hostile invasion attempts.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised Christian (Catholic grandparents, baptised Episcopalian, attended Presbyterian services in childhood) but do not actively worship. My values are tied to concerns about the morality of treating your fellow person with respect to live and let live. I do not believe that requires spirituality to exhibit or follow. I believe in respecting the individual consent of others as a basis for moral human interaction.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

The previous question omitted the response I prefer to give, which is Libertarian. I consider that to be very economically conservative and very socially liberal. You can find my campaign issues summarized at ScheirmanForCongress.com/issues

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I base my issues around the idea that the government shouldn't harm people. In many cases, people see the government as the only way to solve society's issues and are either unaware or unconcerned with people who get harmed along the way by demanding a government solution. Everyone's rights matter and everyone deserves a fair shot at the American Dream.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The 2nd Amendment is very clear in that our gun rights shall not be infringed by the government. I support nationwide Constitutional Carry.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Agree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Agree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Neutral

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1) Ban all government restrictions on the economy so America can get back to work and implement a No Tax on Overtime Work bill so that hardworking people can rebuild their lives in the wake of this calamity. 2) Eliminate all government overspending by supporting a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution for peacetime years and bring the troops home from all foreign postings unless was has been declared by Congress. 3) Eliminate all laws that criminalize victimless acts, including drug use/possession, sex work, gambling, immigration, etc. and pardon any nonviolent person convicted of those acts so they can rejoin society as productive members without a criminal record haunting their future.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes, private and public sector racism is a lingering problem in the US. If the government made sincere efforts to reduce it with ideas like ending qualified immunity for abusive law enforcement, the violent riots that have emerged from otherwise peaceful protests would diminish overnight.
