QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I support the enforcement of Arizona's current abortion bans should Roe be overturned.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
The government should not be able to close churches under any circumstances.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
This is mostly a federal issue. However, we know that many potential terrorists come through our southern border. According to our state's Attorney General, Arizona can re-establish and fund a state guard, declare an invasion, and send the guard to the border to address this issue. We should do so.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
This is mostly a federal issue but the state should not, as a general matter, provide additional subsidies for healthcare over and above what the federal government provides.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I support Arizona's laws that prohibit governments and schools from requiring COVID vaccination. "Private" employers that receive significant taxpayer funding should be held to the same standard.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
The state income tax should be eliminated.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Picking and choosing what areas of spending to reduce is a good way to get no reductions at all. I am open to reductions in any area except for the state government's core public safety function.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
I am ok with the state funding our public universities but students should still have to pay tuition as is currently the case.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Not simply the Federal Government but Arizona as well. According to our state's Attorney General, Arizona can re-establish and fund a state guard, declare an invasion, and send the guard to the border to address this issue. We should do so and I will make that a legislative priority.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Federal issue but we need a moratorium on immigration to get our borders under control. Then, people who share American values and can fend for themselves without government assistance.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
I believe in funding students and families, not systems.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
It is very difficult to conceive of a situation in which a police officer could have the necessary criminal intent and still comply with department policy and certainly they should not be prosecuted for complying with department policy. I note that this question uses a strange definition of qualified immunity as that term typically refers to civil immunity. Perhaps this is why the question makes so little sense to me. Or perhaps leftists really are just that crazy.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
To protect the public from the government, non-law enforcement government agencies like the IRS must be restricted from purchasing or owning firearms with taxpayer money. For the rest of us, "Shall not be infringed" means what it says. An armed society is a polite and safe society.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of state government is to protect liberty and provide for the education of children.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
https://www.alexforaz.com/press-releases/ This portion of my website links to various news articles about me and my work.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I've spent the better part of the last decade as a practicing lawyer on the front lines of the fight to secure our elections. In 2020, we won one of the few conservative elections cases in the country when the Arizona Supreme Court declared that Democrat Adrian Fontes was threatening to run and illegal and unconstitutional election. Later, I was honored by being chosen to represent President Trump's full slate of Arizona electors. I've also been active in the fight for medical freedom. Our firm won a lawsuit against Joe Biden challenging the TSA's travel mask mandate and I was chosen to help Senator Barto draft a bill requiring hospitals to allow family members to visit their sick loved ones. And when the Arizona legislature accidentally passed a law eliminating elected precinct committeemen for the 2022 election, a mistake that could have cost our party a U.S. Senate seat, and not every Republican in the legislature could fix it, my team and I, along with our client, the Arizona Republican Party, got the law declared unconstitutional and unenforceable. I am also a former charter school teacher and a current member of the board of the Arizona School Choice Trust. If you elect me, I will put my legal knowledge to work for the people of Arizona crafting conservative legislation with teeth and identifying potential problems before they arise. And I will never back down for Arizona!
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree that marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. States should leave marriage up to churches and stay out of it.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
"Justice, justice, shall you pursue". Deuteronomy 16:20. I am Jewish.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
The default method of voting should be a one person, one day, one vote, on paper, no machines method of precinct voting. For the sick or elderly, the accommodations made should recreate the protections of the polling place to the maximum extent possible (e.g. direct delivery of ballots by election officials).
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racist philosophies like Critical Race Theory undermine our sense of collective belonging and purpose and are a threat to the long-term survival of our country.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
