QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Human life begins at conception. A single cell that is capable of division is alive. That is basic biology. Christianity has since the first century opposed abortion. I have studied the early writing such as the "Didache" and church fathers' such as Clement of Alexandria who expressed opposition to abortion. Thus, an ectopic pregnancy is one of the few cases where an abortion could be permitted under the Thomistic Principle of Totality.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
We need to stop raiding Social Security, no more borrowing. Serious consideration needs to be given to the unpopular idea of raising the retirement age. However, life expectancy has increased and an adjustment needs to be considered. When Social Security was enacted in 1935 life expectancy was 61 years, so persons receiving benefits did not receive them for a long period. Today, life expectancy is 78.93 years and climbing. This is more than 17 years longer than when Social Security was enacted, yet the retirement age has not been adjusted adequately to accommodate this greater life expectancy. Additional, considerations need to be considered that cover all earned income sources without a cap. Thus, if you had an income, as do many senior executives, of one more million dollars per year your social security contribution would be on one million, not limited to $137,000.00 .
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would like to revive Sen. Coburn's "Wastebook". We need to look reducing spending by the National Science Foundation, and the Department of Education as many of their grants just don't meet the common sense test. Perhaps, elimination of the Department of Transportation Maritime Administration and funding for John F. Kennedy Center, which has a huge endowment. We could start with a basic reduction of 2 percent in federal spending. We cannot continue spending at the current rate.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
How is loan forgiveness helping? I don't desire to be thought of as hard nosed person however, our educational system is failing us as it is failing to adequately teach basic economics. Students are failing to understand that loans carry the obligation of repayment. College loans need to be repaid save under the most strict conditions which would include disability. The individual taxpayer should not be placed on the hook for a person failure to understand the responsibility of assuming loans
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The concept of separation of church and state is widely misunderstood, it needs to be understood in terms utilized by its most noted author, Thomas Jefferson. Mr. Jefferson, as well as, James Madison were opposed to the establishment of a specific denomination being supported by the state and thus forcing the citizens to support that denomination via their taxes. These two founding fathers argued that compelling citizens to support a specific denomination through taxation was a violation of their natural rights. The case of Everson v.Board of Education was not in accordance with the ideas of Jefferson and Madison as both expressed the value of Christianity in our society. In fact the founding fathers encouraged the teaching of christian values in the nation's schools. The government continues to support, as do I, Chaplains in the uniformed services, in fact the Chaplain Corps a valuable component in he maintenance of the mental heath of our uniformed services.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I believe that health care is a personal responsibility. I learned this from my mother and father. My mother contracted tuberculosis while working as a registered nurse in 1948 she spent 3 years in treatment before returning to nursing and again contracted tuberculosis and was in recovery for two additional years. The cost of treatment was over $10,000, which was more than the cost of our home. My mother returned to nursing and with my father worked to make payments until the medical payments were paid in full the year I graduated from college. While it was difficult my parents to make the payments they succeeded and didn't duck their responsibility. I learned the value of hospital insurance and I believe that insurance can be made more available by removing the barriers that exist that restrict the sale of health insurance across state lines. Also much more needs to be done to promote healthy lifestyles, exercise, diet, and personal responsibility during cold and flu season.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
As a Vietnam veteran I have seen and know first from first knowledge that war is the last resort. That said, my last boss in Vietnam was Presidential Medal of Freedom awardee John Paul Vann. Mr. Vann the Second Regional Assistance Group, Senior Advisor stated, ". . . the only way to defeat a gorilla is to out gorilla him." Radical Islamist are committed to terrorism and crimes against humanity, with rape of children, murder of persons that will not convert to Islam, and the destruction of Christian Churches and more. Thus, all means possible must be used including, economic (cutting of access to funds and the various nations and persons that fund them), and military (including unconventional warfare). Given their resolve to die in an effort to convert the world by force, we must regrettably but with unwavering commitment meet and defeat that effort .
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Let me state that my wife is a naturalized US Citizen. She came legally and earned her citizenship. Thus, I believe that only those that enter lawfully should receive citizenship. We need enact legislation based on education, identifiable skills needed by industry, and English proficiency. The problem of children of illegal aliens born in the US needs to be resolved. If a person robs a bank and then when leaving the bank gives half the money to a person on the street, the person on the street doesn't get to keep the money. Likewise the child of an illegal alien should not receive the gift of citizenship as it would be like getting money from the bank robber.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I have studied the early church fathers'. I have taught educational programs at the Tinker AFB chapel. One of the programs I had the privilege of teaching was a 30 week program entitled, "The First 1000 years of Christianity, When We Were One". The course was ecumenical as had participants from all denominations attending the chapel. The course covered church development from the century prior to Jesus Christ to the year 1054. I can say that my beliefs can be summarized by the "Nicene Creed". This profession of faith that was developed at the Council of Nicaea and later refined covers the basics of my spiritual beliefs and practice as a Catholic. I have many family members that are Southern Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and Anglican, we focus on our commonalities, as we see Christianity under attack from so many angles.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
As I have not been a public figure prior to this election I have no publicly available information concerning the previous statement. However, I would suggest that you contact the Chaplains, both Protestant and Catholic at the Tinker Chapel where I have been worshiping for the past seven years serving both communities.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
NO!
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I'm a native of Oklahoma and Oklahoma educated. I have served the state and nation as a uniformed officer and federal civil servant and thus have several ideas where there savings can be obtained by combining departments and services. As a psychologist, I am an excellent listener, and when elected as your forth district congressman I shall listen to the citizens of the district and give straight answers and not talk around the issues. I don't have Potomac fever and my goal is to insure that the citizens of the 4th District get the best value for their tax dollars. I don't desire to be a career politician, I just desire to serve, and pledge that if elected I shall not serve more than 3 terms. We need to improve mental health access in Southwestern Oklahoma, and this is a primary objective as this will improve over all health especially having evaluated the data from the current health crisis. There has been a major increase in suicides, and other problems and I can help solve.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Persons need to be of legal age to purchase, not be a felon, not be found by a court to be incompetent or a danger to self and others, and have under gone national standardized background check.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Proposal for a balanced budget amendment. Strengthen restrictions on tax dollars being spent for abortion. Revising Immigration policy.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism can be a threat to domestic security when weaponized to separate and divide us as utilized by those that seek to destroy the nation. Efforts to increase opportunities for all citizens can assist in eliminating the ability to use racism to divide as outlined by Marx and Engles and their followers.
