What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
It is not that simple... Our Legislature doesn't do a good job budgeting and tends to place financial resources in the wrong places, for the wrong reason, to assist the wrong budget need. Throwing money at a perceived need has never been the answer... Our legislature needs to do the hard HOMEWORK to find solutions that satisfy the true needs of the State and fail to throw resources at pet projects and foolish initiatives. The fastest way to failure is trying to do too much with too little!

My background in energy spans oil & gas, electric, renewable energy, and demand-side management in all segment of the market including upstream, midstream, downstream, power production, utility operations, energy commodity markets and marketing, as well as energy market forecasting and innovations related to the delivery and sale of all forms of energy. In my business career I served as an Expert Witness in legal proceeding related to energy and energy-related assets and businesses.

We often hear about tragedies, followed by remarks like “do something to make sure this never happens again.” Reality is the “somethings” never address the real issue — the perpetrator. It’s the perpetrator who uses the gun as an instrument to carry out his plan. I support enforcing existing gun laws and protocols that would illuminate the mental illness of people before allowing them access to guns and other dangerous weapons.

However, when Constitutionally allowed peaceful protests degenerate into violence, destruction of the property of others and the state, looting, arson, and, in the case of Portland, OR the locking of police officers in their precinct building and attempting to burn down the building and in the process commit murder... Those responsible should be held responsible for their actions and we should demand that District Attorneys prosecute this felonies to the fullest extent of the law. District Attorneys that refuse to prosecute should be immediately removed from their positions on the basis of not performing their jobs.
