QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

As a Christian, I believe that every life has intrinsic value. Every person, at every stage of life, has inherent dignity and the right to be protected under the law. A society will be judged by how it protects its most vulnerable - including those who can't speak for themselves.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

I agree. Human life is inherently valuable, and that doesn’t change based on how that life is created. Whether through natural conception or artificial methods, embryos represent the earliest stage of human life and should be treated with dignity and respect, not discarded or destroyed.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

In the State House, one of my proudest accomplishments was signing onto the Fetal Heartbeat and Protection from Abortion Act, which restricts abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected. I also voted for the Total Abortion Ban which would have allowed exceptions for neither rape nor incest, had it passed.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

I strongly oppose any taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood. The federal government should not be in the business of subsidizing an organization that is the nation’s largest provider of abortion. That’s not a policy disagreement, it’s a fundamental moral issue. Americans should not be forced to fund an organization that performs hundreds of thousands of abortions each year.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

Yes, Comstock Act should be enforced as written. Laws passed by Congress don’t become optional just because they’re politically inconvenient. If a federal statute prohibits the interstate distribution of abortion-inducing drugs, then the executive branch has a duty to enforce it. If people want to change the law, there’s a process for that. But until then, we should respect the rule of law and uphold federal statues in place.

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

When individuals have the right to innovate, start businesses, invest, and work towards owning private property, an economic system can flourish. Free enterprise drives competition which, in turn, enhances quality and results. Further, property rights aren't simply about economics - it's about liberty

People who can afford to pay more taxes should do so in order to provide relief for working families.

Strongly Disagree

Higher taxes on higher earners are ultimately incentive-crushing policies that discourage the very behaviors that drive economic growth: investment, risk-taking, innovation, and job creation. A stronger approach is for government to get out of the way of economic progress, focus on creating an environment where individuals and businesses can thrive, and work within the budget - not raise taxes on hardworking Americans.

The government should cut spending in order to reduce the national debt.

Strongly Agree

Here in South Carolina, we have a balanced budget. We don't consistently give ourselves a blank check. We make the tough cuts, and operate within our means. As recently as 2001, we had a budget surplus. It is not too late to get back to a balanced budget, and we owe it to our children to do so.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

1. Conduct a line-by-line review of govt. spending 2. Enforce budget discipline 3. Implement agency audits

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

We’ve seen in Masterpiece Cakeshop (on more procedural grounds) and 303 Creative (on compelled expressive speech grounds) that the government cannot apply anti-discrimination laws in a way that shows hostility toward religion, and it cannot compel individuals to create expressive work that violates their sincerely held religious beliefs. In Congress, I will support legislation that protects the Freedom of Religion.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The No Establishment Clause of the First Amendment protects the church from the state - not the other way around. This separation allows for Americans to practice their religion freely without the threat of government intervention.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C: I support maintaining Medicare for seniors that rely on it and Medicaid for those who temporarily need the assistance, but I do not support expanding federal control over healthcare. The best healthcare system is one driven by patient choice, competition, and private-sector innovation, not a government-run model.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

In efforts to maintain privacy and limit government overreach into personal medical data, I would not support keeping such a database.

NATIONAL SECURITY

With regard to America's foreign policy, which view most closely resembles yours: A) The United States should intervene whenever freedom is threatened. B) The United States should selectively help countries trying to grow democracy and fight tyranny. C) The United States has become too involved in others' policies and should remain focused on issues regarding our own sovereignty unless in imminent danger. D) The United States should stay out of foreign conflicts completely.

C: The government’s primary responsibility is to protect national security and ensure our borders remain secure. We should avoid nation-building and prolonged regime-change conflicts abroad, and instead refocus our efforts on safeguarding America’s sovereignty and addressing the challenges here at home.

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Military expansion, cyber IP theft, and hacking abilities, and geopolitical threats the CCP poses are all threats to the U.S and should be treated as such.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel holds both historic and diplomatic significance, and serves as a key democratic foothold in the Middle East.

Islamic terrorism is a threat to the United States' national security.

Strongly Agree

Islamic extremist terrorism remains a real threat to U.S. national security, as demonstrated by past attacks from groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS. We must remain vigilant through strong intelligence, secure borders, and decisive counterterrorism efforts, while distinguishing between extremists and the broader Muslim population.

IMMIGRATION

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Legal immigration should be encouraged. We are a nation built by immigrants, and those that seek a better life for themselves and their families here should not be punished for the actions of those who seek to come here by illegal means. With that, we also owe it to our citizens to have secure, safe borders.

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

We’ve seen the local impact of sanctuary-style policies here in Charleston County, during the tenure of a former sheriff who chose not to fully cooperate with ICE. I oppose sanctuary city policies and support legislation that strengthens cooperation with ICE and helps ensure law enforcement can effectively enforce immigration laws

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

Decisions surrounding education are best made closer to the people at the state and local levels. Reducing federal involvement and oversight allows for more competition, flexibility, and innovation within individual states and municipalities.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

I strongly oppose foreign involvement in the American education system.

VALUES

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

I strongly oppose attempts to physically or socially transition a vulnerable child and would constitute such actions as child abuse. Our children deserve better. They deserve supportive, stable homes and educational facilities that support their growing minds academically.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

The Bible makes it clear - marriage is a sacred bond between one man and one woman. No government, no matter how mighty, can alter God's will.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a lifelong Christian, and a devout Catholic. My faith is the driver in every decision I make, whether it be in my small business, my family, or my campaign. I believe our leaders should be grounded in faith, humility, and moral conviction, and that Washington would benefit from Christian values and a renewed sense of moral purpose.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Oil and natural gas are our most reliable energy sources, with nuclear energy steering us to becoming energy independent.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The right to bear arms shall not be infringed. Our focus should be on equipping law enforcement, mental health services, and prosecuting violent offenders to the fullest extent of the law, not restricting access to guns.
