RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

The loss of a baby's life saving a mother is not the mother's fault nor is it the doctor's fault. It is a tragic situation that should not be made worse.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We can be proud of our state for not being wasteful. There are always improving technologies and processes to get more production for less money and we have done well capitalizing on them. We, however, have not been paying the bills on basic maintenance. If we elect politician lawyers to handle this responsibility we will go back to the days of bureaucracy and waste. We need skill & experience as we shift money from social programs to better paths of success and put MO in the black again.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The guiding principle of separation of church and state has proven beneficial for our country. Christianity grew in America for almost the entire history of our country, but it was not a mandate of the state. I have worked and fought in countries around the world where the government believes it is responsible for governing the public's process of worship. American beliefs are based on freedom of choice. For Christians, we enjoy the concept that we choose to dedicate our lives to God.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

We have to open our system to more competition and the market will diminish the price inflation. Not-for-profit hospitals need to do more to earn the tax free status in the way for-profit hospitals help patients in exchange for tax deductions. Patients on Medicaid should pay a minimal co-pay that gives them a stake in their health costs that is paid directly to the hospital or clinic they are attending.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

There should be a limited vetting process that opens our country to those seeking to participate in the American dream, but it should be strict in accounting for those that enter our borders. We may have been more lucky to be born in a great country, but that also means we have a high responsibility in preserving the United States. In the military I know what it means to help a people fight for liberty within their own country. I believe more people would want to build their own countries if they were able.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born again Christian. I was raised in the Assembly of God ministry, but I also attended The Church of the Nazarene and very active in the youth group. Through austere deployment environments the Catholic Priests were more likely to be with us at the remote combat posts and prayed with us as part of one body in Christ. My wife grew up Presbyterian and often visit the church we were married in, but we are very active members of Southgate Baptist Church. We also were blessed having our children attend Christian preschools: Southgate Baptist Promise Preschool and Wesley Methodist Kids of Creation

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Instead of trying to bring in foreign investors, let’s create a culture that looks locally first. From having the best beef in the world to highly crafted products, we can be a leader in the new economy. I have worked in our economy for more than 30 years. Throughout my youth I usually held two or three jobs fighting to get ahead for my future. I have managed restaurants, industrial logistics, built infrastructure, worked in two factories, sold suits in retail, and currently own rental property. I hold a business degree and have studied the process of building and designing a factory or retail business. Throughout my entire career in business and government service, my workers know that I buy local. I want my supplies and services to come from people I know, or I might know. My campaign signs were made within the district, website in Springfield, and my mailers from Missouri. I want Missouri to grow through the ingenuity and entrepreneurism of our community.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have an Industrial Management degree with unique insight into the operation, development and cost management associated with businesses. I have worked in factories, retail, restaurant management, logistics, and construction for over 30 years. I have rental property and know what it means to maintain a business, hire and fire, negotiate contracts and make sure it is all done with integrity. I believe the quality of a service or product is the most important element of its value. I have a City Planning degree that I use to design infrastructure around the world for our U.S. Air Force. Along with a Construction A.S. and an Electrical Mechanical A.S., I am able to arrive on location, read what is planned, assess the design, make functional edits, and challenge those involved to bring the project to fruition in a timely manner.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I moved to Springfield in 1982 to what was then the rural south end of Greene County. Although I have lived almost 30 years in our district, I have another 15+ years traveling the state, country and the world. My wife and I bought a house just down the road from my grandparent’s old place when I got back from Afghanistan. Shauna and I have three children, Brody (13), Bryndle (10) and Brooks (5), that impress me every day with their brilliance, creativity, and strong character. My wife and I have been together for almost 15 years having met in Springfield by a friend I met through my mother. We work together building a life focused on God and family. Shauna worked as a Labor and Delivery Nurse for 15 years before finishing her Masters of Nursing Education and teaching for her Alma Mater Cox College. Our children attend Cherokee, Academy of Fine and Performing Arts, and Wanda Gray. We like the Cardinals, boating, hiking, fishing, gardening, and cultural arts.

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Legislation to diminish the 2nd amendment is likely to become more complex. The ability to defend it will require more than skilled lobbyists. Legislators will need to be able to talk to fellow legislators with intellectual authority. As a Veteran Air Force Civil Engineer with the responsibilities of bare base defense, I have trained in multiple weapons and carried different firearms over several deployments. Along with being qualified in M16, M4, M9, M240, and M249, I am a decorated marksman.

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. I want to get Missouri's infrastructure back on track. We are blessed that MODOT is rated in the top five states for being efficient in production, but the do more with less achieved a streamlined budget that is now $950 million behind on basic maintenance. Our position as a top ten logistical commerce state is sliding downward. We need to invest to capitalize more on our strategic location. 2. I want to get back funding for school buses. Springfield raised taxes to help the funding shortfall, but most of rural Missouri can't do that. They are cutting shop and tech programs (that Missouri needs more than ever) to pay for busing where they have the longest routes. 3. I want to repeal the law taking tax deductions away from small businesses along with cutting the multiple layers of licensing to start or maintain a business. We are in the lowest ranking states in success for small business. We need to focus more on our local economy in a real way that is more than talk.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is similar to political noise by putting a value on color rather than merit. A person's merit is based on their integrity, experience, behavior, character and ethics. The diverse population of America has worked to overcome the world's problem of superficial bias. For the reason we strive to do better in America, it is the same reason we should be celebrating the success of America.
