QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only medical or life-threatening conditions to the mother
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Rather than a particular item- I am concerned about overall budgeting and efficiency on all spending. When has that been examined ? Even in Iowa a lot of taxpayer money is being spent- let's detail examine expenditures and establish methods for reviewing that
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
That it is not the Government's job to establish a State supported or regulated religion. The early colonists were trying to escape from this. If you read the writings of our early founders they weren't against religion and often cited it as the basis for the Constitution and laws. I.E. I don't see the problem with having a nativity scene in a public park.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
There are possibilities of helping people with healthcare coverage, but those options should be selected not mandated- we're missing a tremendous opportunity to let insurance companies work across state lines in their proposed coverages - which limits choices and and keeps rates artificially high. There should be more cooperation between the states on this . Right now, state legislatures and insurance commissioners are creating smaller and less efficient pools of insurance coverage
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
That is the responsibility of the Federal Government through the Congress and the President- existing laws should be enforced, which is seriously lacking. There are Federally established immigration limits, and there's nothing wrong with reviewing them- Congress doesn't seem interested in dealing with the subject at all.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Biblical Christianity
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I believe in the enforcement of Federal laws- including protecting our nation militarily when necessary, and the integrity of our sovereignty as a Republic, where we protect our Nation's borders and establish reasonable immigration policies that are adhered to. Appointed judges should enforce the law- not rewrite or negate their intent- and not attempt to replace the legislative branches of government. I believe in as much personal and economic freedom as possible- it's not the Federal or State government's role to limit our freedoms
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I think my experience in business, finance, and decision making is rated over any degrees. I did learn a lot about work discipline and getting things done in the military. I'm already a County Supervisor and have continued interests at the State level in responsible government and budgeting. I think I can study, check with voters, and make responsible decisions
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I'll work hard and stay in contact with the people in this Senate District- I'll be available to hear what people have to say and get their ideas on what the Iowa Senate should be doing. I thank everyone for the opportunity to run for this position
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Let's follow constitutional principles rather than the opinion of the week. Consistent Court decisions have supported the right of private citizens to own guns. Reasonable mental health and criminal histories can be used as qualifiers for guns purchases.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Balanced budgeting at the State Level Review of State involved healthcare actions for maximum efficiency A renewed focus on repair and update of our roads and bridges
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
It could be, but it's involved with individual actions and attitudes- I don't see how you can legislate on it- we need to assure that everyone's individual rights are protected- not segment the population into special interest groups that fight each other
