QUESTIONNAIRE*
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Life of the Mother
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
In my 18 years of experience in reviewing my county budget line by line. I have found that there is no area in government that can not be improved with the reduction of inefficiency and waste. I advocate clean legislation without the addition of spending not germane to the legislation,
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The government can not establish a church nor force the citizens to practice a faith. It also means the state can not hinder the practice of a legal religion.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Although I support a safety net for our most vulnerable, I would work for policies that are customized to individual affordability. I would seek laws and regulations that would allow government entities, businesses and individuals to purchase coverage across state lines allowing competition and lower prises. I would seek tort reform.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Any person who meets the requirements of our immigration laws.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I place the greatest value on my relationship with God and my deep and unshakable Christian beliefs. My family is my top priority. I stand for the sanctity of life above all. My service to my community is an expression of my moral and spiritual beliefs.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My longtime service to my community makes me especially qualified to hold this office. Through 18 years as a Mills County Supervisor and 41 years as Center Township Clerk I have learned how to work with budgets and have gained a great understanding of inter-governmental cooperation and legislation. I have learned how to get to the heart of the problem and solve it boldly, efficiently and effectively. I am proud of my accomplishments in improving mental health care in my area, reducing the tax burdens on my fellow citizens and finding real solutions for flood victims.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
NO!
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I will take care of the people of District 12. I'm dedicated to the people and will stand with them through hardships and challenges. I will make the necessary sacrifices and take the time required to address the needs of the district. I will be present throughout the district. I have shown myself to be a public servant who knows how to roll up his sleeves and get things done.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Although I can see the need to restrict gun ownership for some convicted of violent felonies or some legally found to be mentally challenged or unsound, my overriding fear is that such restrictions would be abused by those who wish to infringe on the 2nd Amendment rights of the law-abiding. Further, it is my belief that the criminal element would rarely seek a firearm through legal channels.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
My top priority would be in the area of budgeting and taxation. In the post COVID 19 transition, it is essential for the people that our State's financial situation be stabilized. I will work to ensure that tax burdens are as minimal as possible and shouldered equally by taxpayers I would work for legislation that would fund mental health care in the counties. The legislature has given unfunded mandates to the counties which have created an unfair and damaging situation for Iowa's county governments. I would work to correct this. I would address the issues of life and 2nd Amendment rights. Both these issues are key to our moral climate and freedoms and require constant vigilance.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. The United States has made tremendous strides in this area in recent decades. With a population of 300 million there are bound to be the occasional racist, but I believe that racism is not present in most Americans and does not present a real threat.
