OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Disagree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Disagree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Neutral
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
They should be permitted in accordance with the principles set forth in the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Agree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
First, I would ensure that sufficient revenues are raised in order to pay the projected benefit amounts that are needed. I would then review and adjust the tax rates periodically to ensure that our projected obligations are met. Finally, I would effectively lock those funds in a vault, thereby protecting the funds raised specifically to pay such amounts from being used (or even "borrowed") by a future Congress or President to pay some other expense.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I'm not sure I would reduce any particular spending in order to balance the budget. There may be some excess spending and some waste to clean up, but in order to balance the budget, the tax code must be reformed in order to raise sufficient revenues to balance the budget and begin reducing our national debt.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
In the event that students voluntarily enter areas in which we need more people to work, they should receive student loan forgiveness. Our efforts at eliminating student debt should be focused on implementing tuition free public college for those who want it.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Disagree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
No
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
It means that neither the country, nor any of the individual states, may adopt a state-sponsored religion, and may not make any policy and/or funding decisions based upon religiously held beliefs.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Agree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Neutral
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
By making a public option available for those who want it.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Neutral
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
We should use the intelligence we have gathered about potential threats in order to thwart such attacks. This approach has been extremely effective over the years. In fact, the attack that occurred on 9/11 only occurred because intelligence the country had was ignored by the incoming Administration.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Disagree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Neutral
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Neutral
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anyone should be allowed to in accordance with the established procedures in place. In addition, we must extend protection and allow a path to citizenship for Dreamers
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Disagree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Agree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian who believes in following the morals and beliefs of Christianity.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Liberal
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My platform is set forth on my website, LizForTX8.com. In addition, I comment on a range of issues on my Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Not Applicable
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am an everyday American who understands the struggles that everyday Americans face every single day in this country. Because I understand those struggles, and the impacts they have on people's lives, and by extension, on the country as a whole, I am in a position to address and alleviate those struggles better than the current TX-8 Rep., Kevin Brady.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
At a minimum, universal background checks must be enacted.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Agree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Agree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Agree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Agree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1) Tax reform 2) Reform non-discrimination laws and enforcement procedures 3) Improving infrastructure, particularly in the rural areas
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I believe racism is a threat to our security. Unless we make efforts to eliminate racism in the county, the disenfranchised minorities will eventually assert their rights to equality through means that could jeopardize peace in the country.
