QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Every human life is inherently valuable and worthy of protection. As such, abortion should not be permitted under law except in the rare case (less than 0.5%) where it is necessary to save the life of the mother. In other words, it should be permitted only where both mother and child would die without it. Even still, doctors should strive to save both of them if possible.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
By pointing to a separation of church and state, President Jefferson was assuring the Danbury Baptists of their natural right to practice their faith without state interference. While Jefferson believed a wall kept the government from dictating to religious communities, he did not believe there should be a wall to keep religious people or activities out of the public square. I agree.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
If healthcare is going to be adequate, affordable, and accessible for all, the government must recognize the rights of individuals, businesses, doctors, churches, and communities to innovate and freely contract. The government must eliminate its onerous regulations and one-size-fits-all schemes. With our liberty restored, we as a people would then be empowered and equipped to adequately care for those in our families and communities who are sick, injured, and disabled.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Unlike at the federal level, Colorado requires the budget to be balanced each year, yet even in years where the available tax dollars exceed the proposed expenditures, I would look to remove funding in all areas where the state is infringing on individual liberty and where duplicate and inefficient spending have been identified.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Who should be allowed to immigrate and under what circumstances are questions the U.S. Constitution leaves to the federal government, and therefore, are only relevant for candidates running for the U.S. House, Senate or Presidency. As a State Representative, I would have no authority to make these determinations; however, I would take seriously my oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and the immigration laws of the United States.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I support Constitutional carry; however, as with all liberties, restrictions may be just when a person has been found guilty of a violent felony or declared mentally incompetent.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
In Colorado, state legislators are able to introduce a very limited amount of bills. The legislation I present will depend on a variety of factors, yet at every opportunity, I will seek to protect the vulnerable, strengthen the family, and restore liberty. By way of specific examples, I might introduce a bill to ban abortion after the detection of a heartbeat, or a bill to bolster parental rights as concerns education or medical care, or a bill to reduce the power of unelected bureaucrats.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Every person is created in God's image and is equally valuable in His sight. When this truth is forgotten and replaced with the false and abominable notion that some people groups are more valuable, genetically advanced, or somehow superior to other people groups, the seeds for division and strife are sown. These seeds, if nurtured, will surely threaten domestic civility and possibly domestic security as well.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
After becoming an Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Blackstone Legal Fellow and acquiring my law license, I strengthened non-profit organizations, operated small businesses, taught in a Hillsdale-affiliated public charter school, and defended unalienable liberties in a variety of forums. My diverse skill set and range of experience uniquely position me to effectively serve in the increasingly complex realm of public policy.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am committed to building a Colorado that honors and preserves the life-giving values of our Founders. When I think of the next generation and look at what is happening in Denver, I am compelled to act. If my former students approached me in twenty years asking, "Where were you when the State was infringing on our property rights, when they were attacking family, free markets, and fundamental freedoms? Where were you when they were stealing our heritage and our future?", I want to be able to say, "I was fighting. I was standing in the gap for you."
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I love Jesus. His Word forms the foundation for my life. I strive to "do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with my God" as commanded in Micah 6:8.
