QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
In the issue of abortion, my personal beliefs are heartbeat equals life. Abortion should not be used as a form of birth control. In extreme cases, that in the instance of rape or health of the mother, it should be an option.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
It is important to go over budgets line by line. The first items I would look for are waste in spending. In any business, in which takes in money and pays out money, labor costs are typically where most money is wasted or spent. That would be the first areas I would look.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Simply put, the separation of church and state means that the government should not infringe on an individuals right to worship. It is their legal right, and the government has no legal right to deny that.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Healthcare needs to continue private coverage. It is important to monitor companies that use predatory practices. Affordability is a subjective term. Public options, while sound appealing, do not offer adequate or accessible services. In the very minimum, I believe in preventative maintenance of our bodies. Making that step accessible and affordable is something that can be achieved.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I believe in immigration so long as it is done legally. We are a country born of immigrants. Those who seek to live a better life should be allowed to go through the proper process to become contributing members of our American society.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
No Answer
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I consider myself a non-denominational Christian. My spirituality and faith is strong between me and my Creator. The Ten Commandments to me are important moral guidelines that offer a blueprint to my values and morality. Similarly, how the 7 core Army values provide the same. I believe in protecting the freedom to worship as one sees fit and feel spirituality and faith are key factors in mental health.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
The governments role is to protect our rights established by the United States Constitution. Many of my views are conservative, where individual responsibility and accountability is important. For social issues, as long as citizens are law abiding, how they live their life is their right and none of my business. I'm not here to judge, it is not my role, that is for my Creator to decide. Just so long as no one, especially from the government pushes their agenda on me or my family unsolicited. I do not feel the government should have an expanded role in how we raise and provide for our families.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, as well as a Master of Arts degree Community Engagement and a Graduate Certificate in Organization Development. My education alone qualifies me with experience in economics, change systems, reform, and community outreach. My military experience qualifies me in public safety.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Never. I am an advocate against such matters.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
University of Denver wrote a follow up article from my 2019 city council race that gives the reader an small glimpse of who I am and what I'm about as an individual. I am a true patriot and believe that our Republic, it's fabric, and freedom are worth fighting for. https://universitycollegeblog.du.edu/2020/05/global-community-engagement-student-jonathan-p-woodley-i-dont-believe-in-luck/?fbclid=IwAR1afaEaJeN16Yj2vtsqtTJoDtZDYvs93C5ZkVklWUEeDoME6rN0lQDoPS4 I do not compare myself to a typical political type. When asked why I run for these positions, in difficult races, I respond with three reasons: God, Family, and Country. There is a current threat to all three, and I believe in God's plan for me. I am just the vessel.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
"The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Neutral
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Personal safety. Tax reform. Education reform.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
The topic of racism is a complicated issue based on current definitions of what racism actually is. Do I believe racism exists, yes. All over the world racism exists. There are groups that absolutely pose a threat to domestic security in the name of hate and evil. One of the proudest moments in American history is the abolishment of slavery in 1865. No other civilization has ever done what the United States has done in that short of time in existence. Are we a perfect nation with a perfect past, no. No one is born a racist, that starts at home and within communities. We as a people need to do better at educating each generation. This is not a black and white issue as extremist would like people to believe. I wholeheartedly believe that the United States is not a racist country.
