QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I do not favor the allowance of abortion under any circumstance except the possibility of very strictly limited circumstances regarding the life of the mother. If it is clear according to more than one medical expert that there are two lives in the balance, then a decision by the mother regarding her life vrs the life of the unborn might be made.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would be interested in making all of our spending more efficient and restricted, but a combined effort to encourage citizens to become more personally productive can and should lead to less money spent on programs that give people a small amount of subsistence which leads to dependence is important to me.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
It means exactly what Thomas Jefferson meant, that the state cannot infringe on the practice of the church or the individual to exercise legitimate religion. This should bind the state, not the church. Our nation needs more people of faith.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
1. A robust program that advocates for preventative life-styles. 2. Better education within all schools, but especially public schools to which nearly 80% of our children will attend regarding personal health issues. 3. An encouragement for the medical profession to provide "pro-Bono" care for any who cannot afford medical insurance or other means to pay for care of illness. 4. An allowance for Health insurance products to cross State lines, providing more competition resulting in lower costs. 5. Finding ways to reduce the cost of pharmaceuticals.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I am in favor of returning to meritorious qualification for immigration in this country. If someone cannot or will not contribute to our nations growth and societal improvement, they should not be allowed to immigrate. I realize that this could be mis-used as a means of unfair discrimination, but it is necessary in its best application for the preservation of our nation.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born-again Christian who firmly believes in the inerrant word of God as found in the Holy Bible as a guide for salvation and a guide for our earthly lives. I spent 35 years teaching in the public education system (mathematics) and 10 classroom rules on my wall for those years. those rules were not the King James, or even the NIV versions, but rather my interpretation for the conduct of my students and myself in the classroom.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
You will find on my facebook page: "Bob Henderson for House" a list of my positions that should clarify my general stance on these issues.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have spent much of my professional life in the public education sector as a teacher and athletic coach, but I have also worked for over 30 years as a professional church musician and worship leader as well as Bible study leader. I have just completed a 6-month duty as a regional director for Senator Charles Grassley here in Iowa. I have served on a number of boards of directors for church organizations as well as benefit organizations of other types. I currently serve as a member of a board of directors of a large benevolent fund that provides grants to Christian organizations across the world who are spreading the Gospel. I spent 3 years in direct sales of life insurance products, and have also spent time in house construction. I have earned a Bachelor degree in mathematics, Master degree in mathematics and Doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy in which I did research in legal educational issues.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
My district has been represented for most of the past 40 years by representatives who have spent most of their time in the legislature ideologically voting against good measures that were brought to them by the other party. It is time to be represented by someone who will work hard to make things right!
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
No Answer
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I can only think that someone who has been convicted of a crime of violence should be restricted from owning firearms.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. The purpose of public education to be re-defined to its historic definition of "training and developing good citizens." 2. Protecting our growing number of senior citizens who are on fixed and limited incomes from the burdens of increased taxes. 3. Establishing policies that will encourage fathers and husbands to accept and strengthen their positions in the families. (nearly 10% of those in my district are single women with children) note: Protection of the unborn is high on my list, but ongoing legislation in Iowa is already in place to strengthen this.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes, but not in the way it is being postulated. Attempts by radical organizations to undermine our laws and history are themselves racist and are in direct opposition to the great progress we have made since the 1960s.
