Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is active and prevalent throughout American society. Centuries of socioeconomic inequalities continue to divide the white Americans and Americans of color. Inequities in access to good education and jobs are prominent factors in the continued racial tensions. People of color are being subjected to greater rates of incarceration and violent encounters with police. Better access to quality education will lead to better jobs and a place in mainstream America subsequently reducing incarcerations. More training for law enforcement in racial and ethnic sensitivities will lower violent encounters with individuals of color. All people who make up our society should be more tolerable of one another reducing tensions between groups.
