QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
When a judge agrees that it has been proven that the mother of the unborn would die if the infant were to be born. We cannot force one human to sacrifice themselves for the life another.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
That that has proven to have failed in its intended impact; that that attempts to alter public behavior beyond Constitutional authority. Maybe more.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Churches deal with faith. Government deals in fact. Interaction is unavoidable, such as preventing restriction of religious speech, or preventing abortion. When government deals facts as faith, or churches deal faith as fact, however, each imposes on the other's turf.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Regulate the practice of medicine like we regulate the power company or the water utility. Medicine is a business, like it or not, and therefore the federal government has broad power in controlling it. Some, most notably children, have no ability to pay, so they should have free care available when parents are unable to pay. Those who can participate in our economic system should pay their own way. We are responsible for those citizens who, through no fault of their own, e.g. children, the mentally-ill, etc., cannot participate in our economic system. We have no responsibility for non-citizens.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Those we can absorb economically, as determined by skill set and established business need, given that immigrants are determined not to be a threat to public safety. I do think we should know where we are sending each immigrant; businesses should post openings with required skillsets to database, and immigration authorities should search that database to see where to send the immigrant.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in a contemporaneous reading of the scriptures and their application to all things in life, both mundane and exceptional, as well as toward those gifts provided by God, e.g. the environment. While we will fail in our attempt toward perfection because of our own sins, we must admit them, accept them, get up and continue the journey, empowered by the grace of God's forgiveness.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My work in the Republican party. My efforts to protect the physical well-being of teenage citizens who attended Wawasee High School who had Hispanic surnames in the 1990's and 2000's. My work to prevent government funding from private projects designed for public good, such as the Scout Cabin in Syracuse and my work some years ago on the Wawasee Conservancy Foundation board. My efforts to assure that tax dollars are conserved in the operation of Turkey Creek Township, and the Turkey Creek Fire Territory.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
Twenty-two years in the radio industry, personally covering 17 governmental jurisdictions in hourly newscasts through first-hand reporting. Four years on the township board, responsible for fire and ambulance service, some poor relief, and a smattering of recreation money (funding for lifeguards at the beach). Living in my district for 54 years.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No felonies, no findings of sexual misconduct.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am a delegate, not a trustee. If elected, I will be empowered to represent the views of the citizens of my district, not somewhere else. When those who sent me have not spoken up, I will act as I think they would want me to. When they have spoken up, I will act as they instruct. I will always act with their interests first in my mind.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Only a judge should remove the right to own a gun. If a person is a threat to the public's safety, e.g. a felon or mentally-ill, etc., then a judge might take away his or her guns. A police officer might remove guns before a judge rules, either through a temporary restraining order or the same rules allowing arrest prior to hearing.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. State inspection and regulation of dams abutting public waterways. 2. Allowing creation of buying group for farmers to get group health insurance. 3. Equality of funding for K-12 education. Right now, urban students are funded more heavily than rural students.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a tactical threat when those investigating a particular threat allow race to enter into their considerations. Public safety and equal protection under the law requires those authorities to work with the facts at hand.
