We must eliminate government waste, earmarks, and capital cronyism. I would support zero-based budgeting. I support the following republican platform test regarding reducing government spending: "Is a particular expenditure within the constitutional scope of the government? If not, stop it. Has it been effective in the past and is it still absolutely necessary? If not, end it. Is it so important as to justify borrowing, especially foreign borrowing, to fund it? If not, kill it."

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

"Separation of church and state" is a misunderstood concept and is not found in our Constitution. The statement was paraphrased from Thomas Jefferson in a letter addressed to the Danbury Baptist Association. It means the government should NEVER interfere, intrude, restrict, or prohibit our right to worship freely. The Free Exercise Clause in the First Amendment states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."


HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The Obamacare plan is a failure. Our premiums have skyrocketed and many full time workers are reduced to part-time since Obamacare was implemented in 2014. I would support a major reform to health care including the expansion of HSA's and bolstering competition by allowing individuals to purchase insurance across state lines. I would fight to give the consumer more control, making their health care more affordable and portable. I think its terrible when my insurance company dictates medical treatments/plans due to cost and not what is best for me or my family. Opening free-markets, increasing competition, and demanding more transparency will drive costs down and make healthcare more affordable and accessible.


NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Regarding the previous question, I believe labels are divisive by nature. I want to be judged by my ideology and life, not a label that may or may not be construed differently. Please contact my office for a list of references and public information.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am a business owner, attorney, and educator. I grew up in my district HD 102. I started a law firm in 2012 and hold the following degrees: Juris Doctorate, Masters Liberal Arts, BAAS. Additionally, I received training as a mediator and family mediator. I have travelled across the world on several humanitarian/mission trips. I served in law clinic at Texas Wesleyan School of Law and at my church as a youth pastor/singles pastor. My wife and I are empty nesters after raising six beautiful kids. I believe my compassion to help people, champion education, and improve my community comes from my ministry background and my work as an attorney in family law.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I believe in LIMITING the government to the powers enumerated in the U.S. and Texas Constitutions. I believe in the spirit of liberty and free-enterprise. We must not be strangled by big government. Many voters are disgusted with our politics in Texas. There is a disdain for both parties and "establishment" politicians who don't represent our Texas values. The voter has three choices for my HD 102 district: Socialism = vote Ana Marie Ramos Cronyism/establishment = vote Linda Koop Liberty and the independent spirit of Texas = vote Rick Walker. #rickwalker4tx

We have plenty of gun laws passed, we don't need MORE restrictions. We should do better at enforcing the laws already in place. I support the second Amendment and constitutional carry. I'm opposed to "red flag" laws. The recent tragic shooting in Tarrant County at the West Freeway Church of Christ would have been MUCH worse if not for armed citizens confronting and responding quickly to take down the shooter.
