OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, North Carolina should repeal its law allowing abortion up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the Mother would be the only exception for allowing an abortion. Medical textbooks and scientific reference work consistently agree that human life begins at conception. Some of the world’s most prominent scientists and physicians have testified before the U.S. Senate that human life begins at conception.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The words"separation of church and state" do not appear in the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Constitution clearly states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" Ever since the 1947 Emerson decision where Hugo Black distorted the meaning of the phrase, "wall of separation between church and state," that Thomas Jefferson penned in a private 1802 letter to Connecticut Baptists the courts have essentially turned the First Amendment upside down. Whereas Jefferson believed a wall of separation applied only to the federal government, the courts have sought to apply the wall to the states without any legal precedent. Instead of maintaining Jefferson’s wall of separation keeping the federal government out of religious matters. It's freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The “progressive”/socialist paradigm is single payer, centralized control, top-down decision-making and reliance on government coercion has and will always fail. At every opportunity I would contrast that paradigm with the alternative of free market innovation, decentralized power, competition and personal freedom. The task before us is to craft health reforms that will indeed lower cost, expand coverage choices and preserve quality of care through free market incentives that benefits everyone. I would support decentralized free market competition and innovation where everyone would be free to buy private insurance, apply a tax deduction for health insurance and restore indemnity insurance that pays the patient directly. I would remove barriers preventing competition. I also support President Trump’s Executive Order for Medical Cost Transparency and would support such legislation.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State, sheriff and local law enforcement agencies should be required to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) Program to enhance the safety and security of their communities to identify and detain aliens.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

A disorganized and chaotic immigration system encourages lawlessness and is a clear invitation to those who wish to harm this nation. Secure borders, especially in a times of terrorist threats, are crucial to American national security. I agree with President Trump’s call for "patriotic assimilation" as a critical part of our immigration process. Self-reliance, a strong work ethic, perseverance, volunteerism, and moderation are qualities that make a population free and prosperous. An invitation to assimilate into practices that produce freedom and solidarity have been part of the American character for centuries. For 200 years, immigrants have been coming to the United States without receiving welfare. If we are to be a united nation, living up to our motto of "e pluribus unum" - out of many, one - we all must understand and embrace a common language, history, and civic culture. We cannot continue to compromise national security and public safety.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Parents should have the right to know what schools are teaching their children about sex and LGBT issues and should have the right to opt their children out of any instruction to which they object.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, salvation by God’s grace through Jesus Christ alone, the resurrection of Christ, the Gospel and the Trinity. I believe the Bible is God's Word and reveals what is important and essential to the Christian faith and practice. 1 Peter 3:15 tells us “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do so with gentleness and respect”. I believe it’s our duty as Christians, and Americans, to stay informed of social, moral, media, and political issues and contend gracefully for sound public policy that significantly strengthens the family, religious faith, our communities and our nation.

I also served as ADP Security Officer testing printing equipment security applying Naval security policies and principles to automated information systems and programs managed. After the 9-11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon I assisted in managing recovery efforts to reestablish the Navy offices including my own.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The Constitution states "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." I support concealed and open-carry with proper training. I believe every gun owner has an obligation to practice safe gun ownership keeping firearms out of the reach of children. I believe only US citizens can buy or own firearms. Not a fan of gun free zones, they tell criminals no one here can defend themselves. Violent gun crime should have maximum penalties applied.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree
