OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE*

*Additional information was received after the evaluation was assigned and was not considered in the Panel Evaluations, therefore it is for additional educational purposes only.
RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only in the rare exception to save the life of the mother when there is an imminent threat to the life of the mother.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Florida already has a balanced budget provision, requiring the state not to have a budget deficit. If the state were over-budget I would look first to unnecessary grant programs such as those funding unnecessary research.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

In his letter to the Baptist Church of Danbury, Connecticut, Thomas Jefferson coined the phrase "separation of church and state" where he was addressing the church's concerns with religious liberty. Jefferson wrote the phrase to mean that the government may not prevent the free exercise of religion and assured them of religious liberty. Therefore, the saying means that the government shall not prevent religious liberty.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Healthcare should be made more accessible through market-oriented solutions such as by opening markets to competition across state lines. Through increased competition, and deregulation of the industry, providers will lower prices reducing the costs of healthcare.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Legal immigrants should be allowed to immigrate, after having been vetted and having gone through the legal immigration process.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born-again Christian. I believe our rights come from God, and not government. I believe the First Amendment was created to prevent government abuse and to prevent government from hindering religious freedom, not to prevent religion from being exercised. My values and beliefs come from the Word of God.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I was endorsed by the social and fiscal conservative organization, Florida Family Action. floridafamilyaction.org/2020/06/ffa-endorses-david-borrero/

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

No other candidate has more experience for this position than me. I am the only elected official running in this race. I currently serve as the City of Sweetwater Commissioner where I successfully fought to reduce property taxes, establish term limits for the city, and put a stop to abusive red-light traffic camera contracts in the city. Prior to this I served as campaign manager to the former Republican State Representative over this position, Rep. Carlos Trujillo. I am also the only candidate with the essential experience and background in business. Having coordinated and estimated construction projects as a project coordinator and project estimator for private clients on construction projects, I have unmatched business experience compared to my opponents. Lastly, I'm educated in business and government. I have a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences in Political Science and Economics, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I'm a tested constitutional conservative. I am a leader and a hard worker. I will work hard to lower the cost of living for all residents, and stand for religious freedom, for the unborn and for conservative values. I am the most qualified candidate in this race. I will serve my community and district with honor, excellence, and distinction as I have for three years as a city commissioner, and I will be honored to have the support of residents of Florida House District 105.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No Answer

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe in upholding the second amendment and preventing restrictions to gun ownership.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Legislation reducing Taxes and Regulations Legislation on protecting life, and ending abortion Legislation on post-secondary education, supporting more apprenticeship and certification programs

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is an abhorrent evil that must be condemned and eliminated. Our focus should be on teaching our children and society to love one another, and, at the same time, making sure we fully support police and law enforcement.
