QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

In North Carolina, our attorney general just said he will not enforce the 20-week ban, which means technically someone could perform an abortion right before birth. I very rarely hear the pro-abortion side say anything about limitations other than how much they hate them. My question to the pro-abortion side would be what limitations do you support? All human life, including human life in the womb, no matter how conceived, is intrinsically valuable and the government must do its job to protect human life from those who wish to do harm. While I personally do not like the idea of punishing an unborn child for the crimes of their father, for the sake of politics and what can actually be passed in a purple state, I am willing to accept a proposed bill to restrict abortions that included exceptions for rape and incest, along with the already accepted life of the mother exception. Any reduction in abortions is a good thing, and that should be the goal of any pro-life elected official, and that is my goal. I know that in a purple state I may not get everything I would prefer when it comes to the abortion issue, but again my goal is to find ways to at least reduce abortions, and keep North Carolina from turning into an east coast abortion hub. The prediction is that North Carolina will become an abortion tourist state and see a massive increase in abortion-related travel as neighboring states restrict abortions. We must not let that happen. We must also heavily increase the penalties for rape, attempted rape, and other forms of sexual assault and we must work tirelessly to combat human trafficking in North Carolina, which continues to be a top ten state for persons trafficked.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

No tax dollars should go to organizations that purposely kill the unborn.

If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?

I would like to see something similar to heartbeat bills. I know in a purple state like North Carolina, a six-week ban ( when most heartbeats are detected) is unlikely, but I hope we can at least bring down that 20-week number. 20 weeks is just way too high, and what is even worse, as I mentioned earlier, our attorney general has said he will not enforce our already high 20-week ban. That is unacceptable. If I were writing the bill to restrict abortion, I would also explicitly write into the law that treatment for ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages, rupture of membranes, or any other imminently life-threatening situation would not be considered abortion under North Carolina law. The purpose of my being specific is to quell any confusion and to debunk any lies out there. There have been so many lies about pro-life laws in other states and it is absolutely infuriating. We can restrict abortions, uphold and protect the natural right of the unborn to live, and at the same time, we can make true emergency exceptions to preserve the life of the mother. I refuse to believe the lies of the pro-abortion side, which only wants more and more abortions. This is why they bring up these extreme examples of medical emergencies, not out of genuine concern for the mother, but because they cannot defend their indefensible position of unlimited abortions, an overwhelming number of which involve perfectly healthy and normal women. Other things I will do: - Increase funding to pregnancy resource centers - Propose an "alternatives to abortion" program where low-income pregnant women (and their families) can get employment placement, tangible items to help with the pregnancy, etc. - Introduce a bill to claim an unborn child on state tax returns. Georgia did this, and I think it is an awesome idea. Childbirth is expensive, I say let pregnant women save money on their taxes. - Allow women to claim child support on their unborn baby - Work to improve the adoption and foster care system - Work to ensure pregnant women and postpartum women have better access to healthcare

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?

Yes

Mifepristone and other abortifacients should be totally illegal. Misoprostol should only be allowed for certain medical conditions, like stomach ulcers, and/or to expel an already deceased fetus or embryo in the event of a miscarriage. No pills should be used to purposely end the life of the unborn.

ECONOMY

The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.

Disagree

I do not support socialism. I think the Government can do things like invest in good education, jobs, job training, etc that can help people with upward mobility, but I do not support just flat out taking and spending money in a socialist manner.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

North Carolina has made great strides to reduce the personal and corporate income tax rates. I think those efforts should continue.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Neutral

I support funding public k-12 schools, as well as school voucher programs ( school choice). I support putting money into trade and vocational schools and state-funded colleges. I do not think the government should pay for an entire four-year degree but I do support publicly funded universities. I think there needs to be greater accountability to ensure funds are not being wasted and to ensure colleges are finding ways to reduce costs.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

I do not believe, in general, the government should be able to close churches. The church is an essential part of many Americans' lives. I think it was wrong to shut down churches for as long as they did during Covid, especially since other things remained open. So just to be clear, I can go get alcohol and drink until I pass out, but I can't go to church? How does that work? Or I can go protest and be surrounded by a bunch of people, but I cannot go to church. That makes no sense. I think we need new protections from the Governor who grossly abused his powers. Earlier this year, there was a bill that would curb the Governor's ability to declare a state of emergency by requiring concurrence with the council of state after a week and the legislature after 45 days. He vetoed the bill. I will reintroduce that bill and file another bill that would restrict the Governor's or any local government's ability to close churches.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

I think the church can partner with the state to accomplish good things for the citizens and the community. For example, the church can help homeless people, pregnant mothers, etc. Often in times of calamity and unrest, it is the church that opens its doors and provides refuge.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C. Let me be clear. I want everyone to have access to good quality healthcare. I just don't think the government should the one to provide it to the general population. There are exceptions of course, like the extremely poor, disabled, or elderly. But, as with almost everything, the private sector does better at healthcare than the government. I think the focus should be on 1) Creating good jobs so more people can get excellent insurance from their jobs 2) reducing regulations and 3) finding ways to reduce costs by reducing defensive medicine, focusing more on prevention, etc.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Most vaccines, such as vaccines for polio, tetanus, etc, have had generally good outcomes for society. That being said, I know the COVID vaccine and its controversies have raised some serious questions. I think when it comes to vaccines, especially if they are experimental or emergency in nature, there should be medical or deeply held religious belief exemptions allowed. Also, no one should be fired because they refused to take a COVID jab.

EDUCATION

States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.

Strongly Agree

In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?

Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught in public school. It's amazing we even have to have this conversation.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

I believe parents have a constitutional, first amendment, right to speak at school board meetings. These meetings and speaking engagements hold elected school board members accountable and expose, to the greater public, the things that go on in the classroom.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

"Thou shalt not kill" "Thou shalt not steal" "Thou shalt not bear false witness" Take the religious part out for a second. These commandments are just good, sensible examples of wisdom for any society. For the people complaining about "Christian influence" in government, are you suggesting we get rid of any laws banning perjury, theft, and murder because they are mentioned in the Bible? That makes no sense.

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Let me be clear. All humans, created in the image of God, are intrinsically valuable and are due respect, kindness, and basic decency, regardless of their "gender identity". That being said, this notion that you can be whatever you want is to deny all reality, and our laws should not support that. Biological men, for example, should not be allowed to compete in women's sports, and churches and private establishments should not be forced to do or support things these ND laws may require.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

CRT needs to be banned. There is a VAST difference between teaching history, which honestly is not always pretty, and flat-out indoctrinating students.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I believe in Jesus and have accepted him as my Lord.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

We always hear about the supposed people who, for whatever reason, cannot get an ID. North Carolina Senate Republicans attempted to rectify this by establishing a program in a bill (Senate bill 724) that would " Identify and assist voters needing photo identification". Every Democrat voted no and the bill never made it out of committee in the House. I will reintroduce a similar measure when I am elected.

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

We must have voter ID if for nothing else, to instill confidence in elections. I also support requiring each County Board of Elections to match signatures on mail-in ballots

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No. Don't get me wrong, racism is evil, and I believe in punishing hate crimes with harsh justice. But I do not view it as a major threat within the United States.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A. I think we should take care of the planet, and I believe in common sense and conservative approaches to clean energy. We can innovate our energy sources without destroying the economy.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The purpose of government is to bring order and justice upon the earth and to protect the innocent.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

It would be easier to google me.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I am running for this seat because I know that I am called to go into the political arena and make good, positive changes.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

Unless they do something that is illegal or unconstitutional, I think law enforcement should be immune from lawsuits while carrying out their duties.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Disagree

Local governments should look for ways to improve mental health and community programs, especially for youth. However, no locality should defund their police departments.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The constitution is clear. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. I think excluding those who are criminals and those with severe mental illnesses, every adult should be able to purchase firearms. I would like to see mental health incorporated into background checks as a way to prevent those with severe mental illness from obtaining firearms.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

Suing a gun manufacturer for a crime someone else committed is stupid. What's next? Can we sue a silverware company if someone commits violence with a knife? The California law that allows for lawsuits in those cases is nothing more than an attempt to violate the second amendment of the citizens and is based on pure clownery.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Would you support legislation that prohibits biological boys from competing on girls sports teams?
