OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, North Carolina should repeal its law allowing abortion up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I do not support abortion under any circumstance.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Agree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

In my opinion, this clause separates church from state, but not religion from politics or public life as I believe individual citizens are free to bring their religious convictions into the public arena.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Neutral

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I would suggest exploring Reference-based Pricing which ties the rate we pay for service to a widely used benchmark and adds a comfortable margin for hospitals to operate. Such programs increase transparency, saves money, and returns power to patients. Additionally, repealing certificate-of-need laws may be a route to more affordable healthcare.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

State, sheriff and local law enforcement agencies should be required to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) Program to enhance the safety and security of their communities to identify and detain aliens.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Immigration guidelines and laws are established by our U.S. Congress in the Immigration and Nationality Act while the President of the United States can issue Executive Orders that also affect immigrants. We should elect individuals that reflect our individual views on immigration and other matters. All Cities, Counties, and States should abide by Federal guidelines, laws, and Presidential Executive Orders unless they are deemed unconstitutional.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Parents should have the right to know what schools are teaching their children about sex and LGBT issues and should have the right to opt their children out of any instruction to which they object.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God. I believe God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God; he was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. I believe Jesus Christ offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. I believe Jesus Christ arose from the dead after three days and ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I believe salvation is a gift from God to man and by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness, man can be saved from sin's penalty. My value-system is simple: follow the Ten Commandments, study God's word, engage in worship, grow through discipleship, seek God in prayer, love others through service, and give generously.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am a devote Christian who has served over 30 years in law enforcement. A simple google of my name will most likely produce numerous amounts of media coverage documenting me and my many years of public service.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I hold two college degrees and served as a sworn law enforcement officer for 32 years. I have been married to the same Registered Nurse for 34 years and we are the proud parents of two grown children (with four grand kids). My experiences have given me the opportunity to work effectively and successfully with every social-economic and racial group found in eastern NC. I want to take my over 3 decades of proven experience to the NC House of Representatives and continue my effective public service.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a native North Carolinian. I am a Christian. I am a Husband. I am a Father. I am a Grand Dad. I am a retired career law enforcement officer with over 30 years experience law enforcement experience. I am an adjunct instructor within the Community College System. I have never held an elected public office nor have I ever been a candidate for any elected public office; however, my experiences prove I can negotiate and institute legal and appropriate solutions to problems, even under the most stressful circumstances, without regard to socioeconomic status. I have the proven practical experience to go to Raleigh and be an effective voice for all citizens of New Hanover County. I need your prayers. I ask for your vote. I would appreciate your financial support of my campaign.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No Answer

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Current federal firearm laws and NC gun laws are adequate as of January 1, 2020. As a career law enforcement officer, I know first hand that only law abiding citizens obey the law thus new restrictions on gun ownership will only impact law abiding citizens as criminals do not obey the law.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. Propose legislation to eliminate all crimes that are obsolete, unnecessary, redundant, or unconstitutional and resolve all inconsistencies. 2. Propose legislation to exempt qualified retirement income for residents over age 65 from state income taxes. 3. Sign on as a co-sponsor of Water Safety Act in hopes to expedite its movement through the NC Legislature.
