QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I generally believe abortion should not be allowed. The only exception would be for medical necessity relating to the actual life of the mother as I do not believe courts or legislatures should determine if one life is more valuable than another.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Florida has adopted a balanced budget amendment so the budget much be balanced. The legislature's role is to prioritize spending in an open and transparent way reflecting needs and current reality and context.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
We have freedom of religion not freedom from religion. We don't discriminate against religion. We are not hostile to faith. We do not have a right not to be offended by others' beliefs.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I do not believe it is the government's responsibility to provide healthcare but rather to create an environment where members of the public through competition can select appropriate healthcare for themselves in a free market environment. Healthcare should be affordable, available and accessible.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Immigrants who follow the law and agree to accept and adopt American values should be allowed to immigrate if they will add potential to the future of the country.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was baptized and raised in a Christian household. I am a practicing Christian and a fallen but saved child of God. I believe in the Trinity and was saved by Grace. I am Pro Life. My beliefs and values are formed by the Nicene Creed and teachings of Holy Scripture.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I registered Republican at age 18 and have been so registered ever since. I have been a regular voter. I served our nation in the Army Reserve for almost 37 years including deployments to Panama, Haiti, Bosnia and Afghanistan where I was wounded. I retired as a brigadier general. I served as a Judge for almost 29 years. During that time I entered decisions to uphold the Constitution and liberty and particularly the first, second, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth amendment rights in cases as varied as Pro Life demonstrators charged with trespassing at an abortion clinic and protecting private property rights from over broad regulation to the right to counsel and unreasonable searches and seizures. I also chaired the local election canvassing board protecting the integrity of elections and voters decisions.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have a life time record of service to my community, state and nation. I am educated and experienced as a lawyer and a judge protecting citizens rights. Part of that experience involved successfully working with the Florida legislature to pass needed legislation. As a soldier I served overseas protecting our rights and was wounded. I have experience serving wounded warriors and their families as well as justice involved and mentally ill people. I have held positions in both the executive and judicial branches of government. I not only studied political science and international relations but was also trained and served as a senior officer in the field of Civil Affairs, the relationship between civil authorities and military authorities. I have had practical experience in reestablishing civil governments in various hotspots around the world. I have private sector business experience as well as experience in the education system.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
NO
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I have conservative values and have lived conservative values. I have vision, experience and demonstrated results. I have leadership training and experience at senior levels in the community and in the military. I will have a unique independence because I will not be worried about positions that are taken today will affect a future career in politics. I have deep roots in the District across the entire population. I am a combat wounded veteran, ran a small business, listened to disputes, determined facts and made decisions. I am hard working and will remain accessible, open to public input, accountable and transparent.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Neutral
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The only constitutional restriction is legal incompetence as determined through due process based on evidence.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1) A balanced budget with low taxes. 2) Adequate funding to ensure school choice and a quality educational opportunity for enabling students to achieve their potential and ensure a productive and satisfying life. 3) Adequate funding to promote the public infrastructure necessary for capitalism and individual liberty to flourish including physical infrastructure, public safety and security, mental health and responsible use of natural resources.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. Racism is a moral threat to the fabric of the country. I think anti-democratic, anti-liberty ideologies are a threat to domestic security. I have not seen institutional racism in the institutions with which I have been most closely associated: the US Army and the court system.
