OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
When a mother's life is endangered or in the case of rape if the mother’s mental health is endangered.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
First of all, Social Security is not an "Entitlement." Employees with employer matches have contributed into Social Security throughout their lifetime. I believe Social Security funds should be put into a restricted fund. The fund would not be available to Congress to balance the federal budget. Ideally, a restricted Social Security fund over time may gain a surplus that would earn daily interest, much like large national banks do with their overnight deposits.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
A balanced budget is the duty of all local and state governments. The federal budget should not be the exception. Indeed, a federal government with no fiscal constraint sows seeds of discontent among its citizens as they fight with one another to get a slice of the federal pie. I support a Balanced Budget Amendment to force the federal government to get its house in order. Social welfare, pork barrel projects, wasteful defense spending and unnecessary marketplace subsidies.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
No provision. It should be treated as any other consumer loan.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
There is no Constitutional reference to the "separation of church and state." Its origin can be traced to a letter written by Thomas Jefferson. The First Amendment guarantees freedom of religious expression. That should not be violated under any circumstance. Expressions of faith and trust in God should never be banned from the public square.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
For Veterans, I support healthcare choice. Except for the most severe cases of injuries due to war, local doctors and hospitals should be made available to get fast, urgent care. For all others, I believe nationwide competition for consumer's healthcare is the best way to drive down premiums and increase services. For those with pre-existing conditions, a separate insurance pool could be created, perhaps with state and federal subsidies to fill the premium gap based on the insured's income. As an addendum to question #14 about making recreational marijuana legal, with which I strongly disagree. I do believe medical marijuana should be legal as well as cannabis oils (and industrial hemp).
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
We need to work with our allies in containing global radical Islam. As far as US homeland security, people seeking visas, immigration or political asylum into the United States from nations that are recognized as hotbeds of radical Islam should be vetted thoroughly. Visitors, students and workers with US Visas should be deported if they have overstayed their visa and not reported to US Homeland Security for explanation or extension. A strict accounting of Visas which are due to expire should be closely monitored.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Thoroughly vetted immigrants should be eager to adopt the ideals and common language of the nation they seek to join. Illegal immigrants who abuse our laws by having a baby born on US soil should not be granted citizenship through the "Anchor Baby" loophole.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born-again Christian who believes that every person is born in the image of God and should be treated with dignity and respect. I also believe the Bible is God's Word and that it teaches us how to live a moral and upright life. I have traveled to many nations and I believe America's prosperity is due its Judeo-Christian foundation. Strong families with an abiding trust in God is the answer to many of the social problems we face today. God is our provider and not the federal government.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I strongly believe capitalism is the best economic system for stimulating growth and sustained prosperity. A free marketplace of ideas and inventions offer unparalleled opportunities and rewards for hard work and ingenuity. When it comes to US foreign policy, I believe in putting the needs and priorities of America and its citizens first and foremost over other nations. The Founding Fathers of our great republic cautioned against "foreign entanglements." America has paid a heavy price in blood and treasure fighting endless wars where ultimately we are not welcome. As far as social matters, I believe in Compassionate Conservatism. I believe humanitarian nonprofit and faith-based organizations are the best cure for much of what ails the persistent social problems that face our nation. Generational dependence on failed social service programs through government agencies robs people of hope and dignity. On immigration, we need a moratorium and national discussion to outline our goals.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I have a beautiful wife of 31 years and two adult daughters. I believe that a father and mother living in the home is the bedrock strength of our nation. Being a public servant means just that--it's a calling. Voters when casting their ballot transfer their sacred trust to the candidate they chose in the belief that person will respect and uphold the principles and promises that were made to win their confidence. Sadly, that confidence is broken time and again. If I am elected to represent the hard-working voters who live in the eight counties of US House District 10, I solemnly swear that I will do my best to live up to the calling God has placed on my heart to use my gifts and talents for that noble purpose and to deliver the best constituent services that are available. CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
People kill people. I believe the Second Amendment was put in place to protect the First Amendment. We need better mental healthcare intervention for those who display violent tendencies. We need to take and report their threats seriously.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Term Limits: Two terms or 12 years for Senator; Three terms of six years for US Representative. The president's term limit is an excellent model for emulating. A president often achieves his boldest policy goals in his second term. 2. Balanced Budget Amendment to reduce the national debt. 3. Remove Social Security contributions from the federal budget and place it in a restricted fund managed by financial experts.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes. Racial inequality is an insidious threat to our nation's stability. Militant racism is a dangerous threat to our domestic security.
