QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
When the life of the mother is threatened and the choice is being made by family and doctors involved.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Doesn't matter what it means to "me" or anyone else. That is not what anyone running for office is free to interpret on a personal level. What it does mean is exactly what it says, that government is not free to establish a religion and tell you what you will believe. There is no "separation" in the constitution. This is an inference taken from a letter Jefferson wrote from France during the convention. What he said was there should be a high wall between the church and state, meaning no interference. Doesn't mean there cannot be prayer in schools, or before congress or even court. All it means is government cannot designate what you will practice as a religion. In fact, I believe this "Separation of Church and State" started in 1947 when the Supreme court first attacked prayer in school and has been used since by religion haters on the attack. It doesn't exist.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Health Care is a personal choice and between the individual and their medial provider. Coverage that is affordable for all is the most challenging, yet not a function of government. True free market shopping for coverage is needed without interference, allowing across state lines shopping for competition. This should be happening if congress wasn't playing politics with big pharma and the medical profession. the Constitution mandates they regulate commerce "between the states", not prohibit it. State offered insurance is an option that individuals can pay into rather than private providers. This is another way of bringing down premium costs. National "one provider" like ObamaCare is not a constitutional function of the federal government and detrimental to the continuance of our Republican form of government. You can't have both and we are not a socialist country.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Our executive agencies are audited periodically but on a random basis. There is always waste and abuse in these agencies and they are known to be mismanaged. This needs to be seriously looked at and some of these agencies that are duplicating duties or too big to be effective, should be downsized. Additionally, the Judiciary is an onion with many layers with our courts being a quite large. This is a behemoth that may need consolidating. Justice reform and our courts is one consideration
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
We have to follow our immigration laws and stop using this as a political tool, again we know by whom. Anyone that wants to immigrate to America that wants to assimilate to our culture and ways, take advantage of the opportunity to be the best they can under our laws and be a part of the American life style while not wanting to take advantage of living of society is welcome. No county can survive opening up to those that want to live of the efforts of others with no desire to better themselves. Making this a political promise is disgusting. Most of those coming here I have met have been wonderful, energetic and motivated people wanting to keep America the way it was when they arrived and preserving the opportunities we offer, not to see what is happening now. We don't want people to give up their culture, but understand and accept ours as part of them while preserving and sharing theirs. This is America to me.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Disagree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
You don't place restrictions on the rights of the people. Public safety is a process that is addressed by focusing on the offender, not criminalizing rights. This is where the "Gun Control" advocates lose. None of these laws EVER make a community any safer, yet they blindly cry it is so. Until any one of these people can actually articulate just what the second amendment, the militia and what the purpose of both is, there is no discussion because they come to the table "unarmed".
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Agree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Rewriting the legislation used that granted the violation of the peoples rights under the governors executive orders. This never should have happened and the legislators were wrong in doing it. Yes, there needs to be some ability to make emergency orders, but the peoples liberties must be protected when doing so and it must be done with minimal intrusion. In education, making History and Civics a requirement for graduation. Not the pitiful 2016 civics knowledge tests as a standalone. True transparency in education spending at the district level.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes, and it is perpetuated by the Democrat party, used at every turn to further inflame and divide society along racial lines. We are all Americans and all have the same constitutional rights and liberties. Close your eyes and listen to the person in front of you. Stand next to them in support of their rights. Open your eyes and see Americans and a friend no matter where they came from or what they look like. That is being a true human being and an American. We need to get back to the Constitution, see each other as Americans and one family, but with individual needs and desires. Stop destroying culture and differences and enjoy the variety each offers and brings to us as a multicultural society. Racism is a tool being used politically and must stop or we are going to have hate in our hearts. That is not what we are. I don't see "race" I see Americans and a human being.
JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I have consistently held Constitutional principals publicly while traveling the state teaching the constitution, making videos on Youtube, posting on Facebook and posting on my blog at www.randymillerforarizona.com You can also verify my consistent positions in the Arizona Republican Briefs. http://www.republicanbriefs.org/
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My experience is my education. I spent just under 20 years working for the courts, with law enforcement on the streets. I had to work under "policy and laws" that were passed by legislators. I know first hand what works and what doesn't and the damage that is done with bad laws. I have worked closely with our schools, mental health professionals and social service agencies, both teaching and working cases together. I know their struggles, strengths and weaknesses. I have been a Precinct Committeeman for approximately 8 years and worked with legislators and within the republican party I have been studying and teaching our constitutions for many years and understand what our government can and cannot do and who holds the political power.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Absolutely not.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am a republican because they say they are the party of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. They say they are here to reaffirm them. I got tired of waiting and decided to run. I don't hold allegiance to any man, woman or party, I hold it to the Constitution of the United States and of Arizona and to you. I will always have the people first in consideration under the constitution. This is where we have failed as a society. We have allowed ideologies to govern and influence decisions through emotions rather than rational consideration based on a measured and controlled evaluation of what is allowed and proper under the constitution. When parties argue, people lose. The founders feared a two party system, believing it would be detrimental to the Republic. Ghee, I wonder why?
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am not a Christian, yet, but I am spiritual and believe in a higher power. I am a strong advocate for the religious rights and freedoms of my Christian and Jewish family in the community. I believe in the necessity belonging to their rights to their belief and their free exercise of their beliefs being enforced and safeguarded. This is the foundation of our country's morals and values and the very basis of our rights. Letting it be destroyed is akin to the destruction of our country and humanity in general. We have to recognize this.
