OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

No Answer

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is not an issue which will come before the State Board of Education.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

No Answer

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

The Ten Commandments should not be displayed in public school buildings or court houses.

Disagree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

It is a balance of the free exercise and establishment clauses of the U.S. Constitution. While I do not want the government mandating the practice of a certain religion, we should all be able to practice our own religion without government interference. This is a principle of our nation's founding.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

No Answer

EDUCATION

The federal government should mandate standards and requirements (such as Common Core) for local schools.

Strongly Disagree

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Agree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Promotion of the LGBT agenda in public schools, including teaching of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity”, is completely inappropriate and should be opposed at the state and local level.

Agree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a sinner saved by the grace of God - Romans 5:8

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am a lifelong student and learner, with 5 degrees in engineering, law, and spanish. I have a 20 plus year career in oil and gas, managing contracts and negotiations for large and complex transactions. I am a parent of 3 kids in elementary, middle, and high public schools, active at their schools. I am a taxpayer and concerned citizen. I know and am supported by a number of state, county, and local elected officials. I have a track record of success: show up, study the issues, and do my homework.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I believe in the American Dream, and that education is the pathway for each Texas student: "Education, then, beyond all other divides of human origin, is a great equalizer of conditions of men." (Horace Mann) Our Texas schools should be preparing each student to pursue their own American Dream, whether it is to enlist in the military, start a career or business, or enroll in college. All of us, whether we are parents or not, should be interested in how our public schools are doing in this regard.

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
