QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am pro life.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
The top three things we can do: *Have a strong well funded and well trained military. *Maintain close relationships with our allies. *Support a functional intelligence community that cross-communicates. *Make every effort to secure our border and provide appropriate funding to ICE
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
We need to have consumer choice in the healthcare industry, I believe in free-market health care and in patient centered alternatives that allow for greater customer portability. Clear and concise costs should be provided by the healthcare provider, giving individuals the opportunity to compare. We suffer from a lack of health care providers in New Mexico, so we need options like being able to cross the state boundaries to see healthcare providers in nearby states.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
We must do a critical review with the best economic minds to work on this issue, with the goal of protecting the fund so our seniors can feel assured their benefits are sustainable. Add steps to the cap on contributions. I also believe earned social security benefits should not be taxed at the state level, double taxation of these benefits is egregious.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
A critical review of departments needs to be done in order to balance the budget. Departments like the Department of Education would be a good place to start. I believe we do not need a department that large to over see education, each individual state should carry that responsibility.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
Taxpayers should NOT be responsible to pay off existing student loans.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Persons who come here legally and who are willing to legally apply for citizenship and visas. People who are willing to fulfill the requirements to become a US Citizen. We need fair and effective solutions to our immigration system.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
No changes need to be made to our 2nd amendment.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
No Answer
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Born-Alive Abortion Survivor bill that would mandate that care be provided to babies that survive an abortion. 2. Immigration Reform 3. National Debt and Social Security reform.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Michelle Garcia Holmes is a wife, mother, & grandmother. She was born and raised in Albuquerque. She has a Bachelor of Science from Wayland Baptist University. She is the only candidate with 30 years of public safety experience and she served 20 years with the Albuquerque Police Department and is a retired Crimes Against Children Detective. Michelle also served 8 years as the former Chief of Staff for the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office, where she worked on budget, legislation, and the creation of the very first Government Corruption Unit. Michelle is married to Earl Holmes and is presently a Chaplain with IFOC and a blue star mother. Michelle is running to defeat, our current Representative, Deb Haaland, in November. Haaland is not representing the needs or values of New Mexicans. Our campaign is a grassroots campaign, it is a we the people, for the people, by the people oriented campaign. New Mexico needs someone in congress who will work for the people.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
