QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am doctor who has delivered hundreds of babies, I am a witness to miracles over and over again. I am pro-life, and also acknowledge exceptions to abortion restrictions in the future would include, but not be limited to, allegations of rape or incest, or circumstances endangering mental or physical health of the pregnant woman.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None. The COVID pandemic gave far too much power to state government, Tim Walz, and Keith Ellison. In turn, they abused that power and didn't listen to the concerns of our faith leaders. In fact it was the Catholic Church who pushed bask and forced a reopening. Government should not be in the business of closing churches, no matter the circumstance. It sets a dangerous precedent against religious freedom.

NATIONAL SECURITY

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?

This is not a vital question for the governor of Minnesota.

I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Strongly Disagree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C. Single payer healthcare will not solve the health care problems in Minnesota and will damage patient-doctor relationships. It will foster apathy, increase low value services utilization, undermine commitment to service, compromise quality of care, increase waiting time, and reduce provider career satisfaction. I worked diligently during my Senate term to introduce competition into the healthcare field by allowing for-profit insurance companies to operate in Minnesota, increasing pricing transparency in clinics and hospitals, and requiring pharmacy benefit managers to eliminate contractual gag clauses. Our current structure includes a public-private partnership which works well in some ways but poorly in others. Adopting a single-payer system would diminish individual Health Freedom, expand government intrusion, reduce system accountability, and erode patient empowerment. I strongly oppose single payer healthcare for Minnesota, but recognize the need for people to not go broke getting vital treatments they need.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Only if such a requirement is spelled out at the time of hiring. Otherwise, never.

ECONOMY

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

In Minnesota, we need to eliminate the tax on social security income. We also must seriously consider eliminating the income tax completely. Minnesota has had a record $9-$10 Billion surplus. The government does not need more money in Minnesota; we must be smarter in the way we spend money! Minnesota is one of the highest-taxed states across the board. We absolutely must reform our corporate tax code and make Minnesota the most attractive state it can be for young talent, entrepreneurs and growing businesses. There are numerous taxes we have to cut or severely reduce if we're to be a competitive state in the midwest.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would cut the waste, fraud and abuse found within numerous agencies in Minnesota. We continue to break spending records under DFL leadership - including Hundreds of millions of dollars in childcare fraud, wasted money with broken software projects, billions wasted on light rail projects which have failed and so much more. We also must look at our generous entitlement system in Minnesota and reform it so it encourages productivity and discourages wasteful spending.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

More dollars should go to families so they can make the best choice for their children, no matter income level or socioeconomic status. Many of our public school administrators and union bureaucrats have prioritized political indoctrination over solid education. After having kids locked out of school for 2 years, parents in Minneapolis should be able to take their kid and find a school that works best for them.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

This is not applicable to the governor's race.

EDUCATION

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Agree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I support constitutional carry and stand your ground laws.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Disagree

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Government is instituted for the security, benefit and protection of the people, in whom all political power is inherent, together with the right to alter, modify or reform government whenever required by the public good. Nothing more, nothing less.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

No

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition

Choose not to answer

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Strong Christian faith-based person

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Photo ID must be required to vote in Minnesota

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Photo ID requirement to vote. Undue the unconstitutional consent decrees put forward by Steve Simon and Keith Ellison. Limit the window for early voting and late vote counting. Ban third-party voter interference like Zuckerbucks. Return to the time honored tradition of voting in person.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No. Racism is very real and must be condemned, but we live in a time where equality is close to reality. I support equal opportunity, but do not support an artificial push for equal outcomes. We must judge one another by the content of character and not skin color. I believe we have gotten much closer to Martin Luther King JR's vision for our country. The work is never done, but racism is not the threat it used to be in terms of tearing about our country.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

I am closer to option A on this question. In Minnesota, Tim Walz and the far-left DFL have unnecessarily restricted mining and farming at the expense of good jobs. I trust Minnesotans who work with the land every day to steward it best. I think we need to focus on practical ways to improve the cleanliness of our water and the the health of our grasslands and forests, but we have sacrificed practical conservation to extreme far-left ideology.

I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
