QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Rape, incest, and to protect the life of the mother.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Social Security must be protected for future generations. Soon we will need to face some tough choices on who is eligible and when. Until then we must focus on getting the economy back on its feet so that there are resources to fund the current mandate. If elected I will propose a pilot program that evaluates the feasibility of various forms of privatization. At the end of the day however we must ensure that this crucial safety net is maintained for our Seniors.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I support the President's recent ask of his Cabinet Secretaries to cut 5% from their agencies budgets for next year's Federal budget. We need to continue to reign in spending while growing economic output in order to balance the budget.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
I am a firm believer in the value of public service. I enlisted after meeting a wounded soldier at Walter Reed and deployed four times. The US Army, and by extension the taxpayer, paid off my student loans. I think citizens that wish to pursue careers that serve the public good should be eligible to have their student loans paid for by the society they serve. Examples of that are teachers who teach in low income schools, military members, and those that join the foreign service or Peace Corps.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The Founders intended to keep the State out of the affairs of Religious institutions and likewise didn’t want to mandate a National Religion. To me, separation of Church and State means that as Americans we should have the freedom to practice whatever faith we believe in. The State should not interfere with the free exercise of religion.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
The politicians in DC made a slew of promises when they passed Obamacare. You can keep your doctor, costs will go down, all turned out not to be true. What did happen was the biggest expansion of the Federal footprint in healthcare ever in this country. $1 out of every $5 the US government spends is now on health care. I propose giving control back to the States with two restrictions, first they must provide insurance to low income populations and two they must offset the costs to people with pre-existing conditions. This would result in premium reductions, allow individuals to keep private insurance, and reduce rates by up to 15% across the board. It would also keep the National expenditure on health care relatively stable.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
I spent two years in an Islamic Country on four combat deployments. I saw firsthand how the Islamic faith was a powerful force for good, but I also saw how it can be used by evil men to cause harm. The United States should take a three-pronged approach to address the threat of radical Islamic terrorism. First, we need a strong military that is prepared to fight a war on two fronts at any given time. A crucial part of that preparedness is to have Special Operations forces like my old unit that are forward deployed and can conduct precision strikes to destabilize groups like Al Qaeda and eradicate organizations that seek territory like ISIS. Second, we need to do all we can internationally to help Islamic majority countries adopt liberal democratic ideals. Finally, we need to engage with the Islamic community positively in the US. The only way we can fight the misinformation that drives radicalization of loan wolf actors is to work collaboratively with Islamic faith leaders domestically.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Ronald Reagan called America a “Shining City on a hill” taking a cue from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. We are, and should remain, a beacon to the downtrodden. Immigrants across the generations have built this Country into the greatest Nation on Earth. That said, no Nation can open the proverbial floodgates at their border. As with any finite resource we should seek to equitably distribute Visa’s and citizenship. We should continue to bring in people who can make our economy more dynamic as well as continuing the small number of lottery Visa’s that are granted annually. In this way we can continue to attract the cream of the crop while keeping the American Dream attainable for all that are willing to come here legally. With proper vetting I personally believe that we should give special consideration to those that help the US abroad, specifically interpreters from Afghanistan and Iraq. We should also continue to vet and admit refugees as we are able.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born-again Christian and son of a Pastor. I grew up watching my Dad display the heart of a servant to his congregation daily. I believe Jesus died for my sins and that his example inspired the founders of this Country. I believe that we must fight to protect the religious liberties and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution. As Ronald Reagan said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction”. I believe all life has value and we must protect those who cannot protect themselves. As a former Soldier I try and follow the Apostle Paul’s admonition to wear the full armor of God. Ephesians teaches us to wear the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the preparation of the Gospel of Peace, the shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and to wield the Sword of the Spirit (word of God). I value Servant Leadership. Servant leaders tell the truth, live righteous lives, seek to bring peace to their neighbors, and treat others the way the wish to be treated.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I am endorsed by a host of conservative leaders including: Congressmen Dan Crenshaw, Congressman Mike Gallagher, Congressman Mike Waltz, former Senator Slade Gorton, former Congressman Dave Reichert, Former Attorney General Rob McKenna, State Senate Minority Leader Mark Schoesler, former State Legislator Jan Shabro and King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn. They have lent their support because they know I will be a strong voice for Conservative values.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Did not answer
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I will always fight to protect our Constitutionally protected 2nd Amendment rights. That said we need to be sure that we are enforcing existing laws to protect our schools, churches, and other public places from gun violence. Specifically, we need to ensure people go through a background check to obtain a firearm. We need to keep firearms out of the hands of those with mental illness.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Disagree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Jobs and the Economy 2. Healthcare reform 3. Veteran services improvement First, as we come out of the COVID-19 economic lockdowns we will face once in lifetime levels of unemployment and economic catastrophe. It is the job of the Legislative branch to pass fiscal policy that helps solve both liquidity and solvency issues that small businesses are going to face. We need to do so without adding a wish list of liberal policy objectives however and create incentives for the unemployed to get back to work rather than relying on the Federal Government for assistance. Second, health care in this Country has not been functioning as a free market for decades. We must fight to bring down costs while protecting the most vulnerable amongst us obtain care. Lastly, as a Veteran I know that more can be done to take care of those that raised their hand to serve their Country. I am particularly passionate about providing educational resources to the children of our Fallen.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a cancer that can erode the social fabric of our Country. We need public servants that do not harbor different opinions of a person because of the color of their skin. I had a Sergeant Major always say there are four C’s that we as Special Operators needed to be mindful of: Competence, Confidence, Complacency, and Catastrophe. As a Nation, I believe we have grown complacent in our efforts to stamp out racism. We must never stop until all in this country feel they truly have the inalienable rights enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, that of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Regardless of the color of their skin. Racism becomes a National Security issue when we see the breakdown of law and order as we are seeing in the wake of the George Floyd protests. We must do better at all levels of government to provide equal treatment of all our citizens.
