How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Technically, according to the U.S. Supreme Court, Social Security benefits are not guaranteed. Presently, it is estimated that benefits are underfunded by $12.8 trillion. If nothing is done, then by law, the benefits will be cut by 26 percent in 2034. Several proposals have been discussed including raising the retirement age and allowing younger workers to opt out of the Social Security Program and invest in a private retirement program. I believe Congress has an obligation to keep the Social Security Program solvent.

The federal government is presently spending approximately $1,000 billion more than its revenues. The deficits are financed with more national debt. In order to balance the budget, we are going to have to make drastic cuts to federal spending. That means that all agencies and departments will have to be evaluated for significant spending cuts.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

I'm not sure we will ever completely eradicate radical Islamic terrorism, but we can, among other things: 1. Maintain a strong military; 2. Maintain a strong terrorism intelligence network and world-wide surveillance of terrorist organizations and individuals; 3. Strengthen our borders and immigration policies; 4. Punish countries that financially and militarily support terrorism; 5. Support countries that fight home-grown terrorists; and, 6. Support Israel's efforts to fight Islamic terrorism.

I have more than 20 years of business management experience, more than 20 years of public accounting experience, more than 30 years of Republican Party experience at the local and state level and served as Mayor and City Councilman of Midland Texas.

I am not in favor of restricting our constitutionally protected gun ownership rights. I do believe there should be better communications between local, state and federal government agencies involving an active data base for individuals with mental illness, a history of domestic violence, and court-order restraining orders for the required federal background check.

I do not believe that racism is a serious threat to our domestic security. I believe certain individuals are playing the "race" card for their own political ambition. I believe since the passage of the Civil Rights of 1964, we have made significant improvement to race relations in the United States, although there is still room for improvement.
