QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Rape, Incest and when the health of the mother is at risk.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Neutral
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Indexing the retirement age to account for longevity.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
We must go through our budget line by line, as we have done on the Will County Board to find redundancy, waste, fraud and abuse. By taking this action, we were able to actually cut taxes and improve services in Will County.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
It is not the job of the government to pay off student loans. I would certainly be open to making these loans easier to refinance.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
I support people being able to believe and worship the religion that is meaningful to them and I don’t believe the government should have any say in that.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Marie Newman’s “Medicare for All” plan is the failed plan of socialists Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that even many Democrats have rejected. It is not just radical policy, it’s dangerous and dishonest. This plan uses the name of a popular program to cover up the fact that it’s simply single-payer socialized medicine. The plan calls for $32 trillion of new spending in just the first decade. This would nearly double the total amount of money spent by the federal government annually, requiring massive tax hikes on all Americans, not just the wealthy. “Medicare for All” would severely limit access to doctors, stop people from being able to see their current physician, increase doctor and hospital wait times, and overload our emergency rooms.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
We must continue to proactively fight against terrorism, especially ISIS. We need to continue military surveillance in countries and areas that ISIS members use as sanctuaries so we can monitor their actions. With military surveillance, we can execute targeted so our own troops aren’t headed into dangerous situations and so we can minimize collateral damage.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
For those who want to come to this country, I strongly support them entering America through the front door. Apply, come to America, get a green card, then earn your United States citizenship. Legal immigrants are welcome in our country as productive citizens who add to the fabric of our society.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Neutral
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a proud Catholic. I also believe that what makes our nation strong is that we have the right to practice our own religions, or practice no religion at all.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Somewhat Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I have an extensive record as an elected official who has brought forward solutions to move our community forward. As a Member of the Will County Board, I have run up a record of success, including reducing tax rates 4 years in a row while improving services. He found waste in government and cut it, saving taxpayers millions of dollars each year. I oversaw the “Building Will County Financial Plan,” which included a new public safety facility, 911 Center, county courthouse, and county health center. This was all accomplished without a tax increase. This is the kind of leadership we need to send to Congress.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
When Dan Lipinski lost his Primary Election, we lost one of the most commonsense, bipartisan voices in Congress and replaced him with socialist Marie Newman. Marie Newman’s plans aren’t focused on the 3rd District, they are taken from the playbook of the most extreme leftists in Washington. Her plans for healthcare, the environment, the economy, and every other issue are aligned with socialists Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—they certainly don’t reflect the mainstream and commonsense thinking of our community. When I am elected to represent you in Congress, I will join the same caucus of mainstream Republicans and Democrats that Dan Lipinski was part of, “The Problem Solvers Caucus,” because I will be a Congressman that actually takes action and solves problems.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I support the Second Amendment and legislation that is already signed into law.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Neutral
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1) We must have a mainstream across the board energy policy. My opponents call for a “Green New Deal” is a major threat to economy and American way of life. I am proud to be a Republican that is respected for protecting our environment. My comprehensive energy plan is meant to reduce our reliance on foreign oil, protect our environment, and unleash American innovation. 2) Our nation must do better with healthcare, but that doesn’t mean we should support Marie Newman’s plan to socialize our healthcare system. Republicans and Democrats must come together in Washington and bring forward a comprehensive solution that keeps the best parts of Obamacare, like protections for pre-existing coverage, while driving down healthcare costs. 3) My agenda in Congress will not be a national agenda, rather it is an agenda that is driven from the mainstream common-sense residents of the 3rd Congressional District. Unlike my opponent's plan which does not reflect the values of our community.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Yes. We’ve seen on the news too many times of violent acts done out of racist intentions. The FBI needs to constantly monitor for civil rights disruptions that might lead to violence and deaths so our country can become more united and less divided.
