QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe abortion should be allowed for emergency health conditions of the mother.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I believe the tax code should be simplified. We need to reduce the tax burden on our residents.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
To start out, Michigan has a balanced budget mandate; thus the budget is constitutionally required to be balanced. I would focus on funding the things that the constitution mandates such as health and safety. From there, I would look to reduce funding to areas such as LARA that provide revenue streams but little service to the people of Michigan. Inside the DHHS budget, there are many areas that we can reduce costs. Medicaid funding, Increasing accountability and efficiency inside the Mental Health treatments, the PIHP system and the Pharmacy benefits are areas that are ripe for efficiency improvements.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
I do not see a provision anywhere in the constitution of either the United States of America or the State of Michigan that allows for the government to have any control over a church. Thus, there are zero circumstances where the government can close churches.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
I would most closely ascribe to option C. I believe Health Care should be between the patient and their Physician. The move to mandating an individual have insurance has blurred the relationship between the three elements of healthcare: the Patient, the Physician and the Payer.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I believe vaccinations are part of health care and should be a decision between the Patient and the Physician. Having Government step in and require certain health care procedures is a grave overstep of the role of government.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The United States' first responsibility is to the safety of her residents. Thus, the United States should take an active role in protecting and providing safety for her residents both at home and abroad.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Our immigration system should be run the way the law intends it to run. I am 100% in support of legal immigration. Those who break our laws to enter our country send a clear message that they do not care about any other law.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born again believer. I graduated from a church run Christian School and attended a Private Christian College. I went on to become ordained and served as an Independent Baptist Pastor for 20 before getting involved in state politics. I believe the Bible is God's inspired Word and is relevant for all matters relating to both faith and life.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I would propose mandating photo identification, mandating cleaning up the qvf, securing the voting tabulation machines by not allowing them to be connected to the internet while voting and counting is taking place.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I believe there is a fine line. We have come a long way in the United States since the Civil War, desegregation, and the 1960's. i believe we are progressing as a society in that matter. The current trend of focusing on "racism" and "reparations" are again forcing a wedge between groups of people in America. It is very divisive and causing major problems.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
My views on Energy and Environment most closely align with "A"
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Neutral

What do you think is the general purpose of government?
The general purpose of government is to provide security, promote the general welfare of its residents through maintaining and enforcing a system of laws that punishes evil and promotes good.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

My focus legislatively has been working in the Appropriations Committees. My focus has been on Mental Health (the Caro Center), Adoption, Foster care, and Substance Abuse. I am a member of the Michigan Sportsman's Caucus.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Disagree
I agree that we should increase funding for mental health programs, but not at the expense of our Public Safety.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
none
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
